    I agree Kay!

BTW, can you tell me where your post is on supplements? With dial-up, it takes a really long time finding things.

    Thanks!

I wish I would have known about the Brunch for today. No ones fault but my own. I just don't know alot about computers. I thought I'd been checking the topics pretty good, but I guess not seen that it is 10:30 Sunday night and I just came across this. (big pout on my part.)
I wish all you Michiganders a very Merry christmas and hopefully I'll meet you one day soon! (feel free to pm me..I think I know how to work that!)

Denise - sorry you missed the posts. Usually there is a few weeks of planning before a lunch. This one was sput-of-the-moment. We'll probably have another in early February.

Oh boo hoo, it looks like I missed a wonderful time. Anna is glowing and you all look healthy! Maybe we can try again in January?

I'll be your "fearless leader" if no one else want to give it a try. Mary (Kats) is thinking of something creative for us to stand out. We might have to break something on Irene (SEI) so she rides the trolley and gets those good pictures. Have you saved any casts we so we can pretend something is broken? Ok, I'm going to do all sorts of delegating! Chris and Brett, start your running plan!

Heeeeeey, are you trying to jinx me? I do have lots of things I can use, though. Crutches, those ugly cast shoes, ace bandages..... It might be worth if I can follow Chris and Brett and get a good parking spot again.

I just heard from Melissa. She has re-activated the polls. Yay!!

Chris - How did the party go? Did everyone like your snowman?

I agree...Anna looks beautiful...in fact you all do! It was great to see you all.

The snowman was the hit of the party. It was opened in the beginning and was stolen a few times and then frozen. Thanks for the help ladies.

Nancy...thanks for being our fearless leader. Don't worry, Bret and I will be ready for the run!!!

Fancy and I have already determined that we are not available for most of February so I will attempt this poll...so we can set the date now.

I would be glad to have it at my house. I'm in Novi just a few miles from the Olive Garden where we've met before. But I'm also up for a different area for those that are much farther away from Novi.

We are ALL beautiful! I had to vote for March because I'm having knee replacement Jan. 24--3 days in hospital & about 2 weeks in nursing home. I don't imagine I'l be able to communicate by computer in a nursing home. My pulmonologist is trying to add a colonoscopy && upper GI to the knee replacement. He seems to be in favor of one-stop shopping. My lungs are getting worse, but still doesn't think it's cancer, just GERD. I guess I'd be just as glad to have them do everything at once while I am out. I have a femaral hernia they can fix too. Then I'll be the bionic woman.

Any of the Sundays are good for me. I'll go with the group decision. Saturday, 1/27 is out. So far that's the only one.

Happy Holidays Everyone! I hope you are all having a wonderful time.

How are the newbies going through treatment? I see many new Michigan women on the board but I am way behind on my reading.

I'll be glad when the Holidays are over but I do look forward to seeing everyone again.

Hey Everyone - I've been talking to Kats about the Komen Race and she has some fantastic ideas already! As you know, she is so talented and did the memorial signs and video. Do you want me to take the discussion offline through email or should I give the hints here? What are your thoughts about changing the team name?

    Hope everyone is well.

    Nancy,

I'd like you to keep the discussion here, please. I'm not sure if I'm going to be up to doing it this year, but I think I'll be better able to decide by having your preparations to help me judge.

    Hi Anne,
The wonderful MI ladies have allowed me to be a part of this great group of women. My husband, myself and our granddaughter drove up to Detroit for the race last year. We are also planning on making the drive this year too.

If you feel you might not be up to walking the race there is a trolley for BC survivors that drives the route of the race. Two of the ladies last year took the trolley, Irene because she had a broken foot and Ann because she wasn't up to walking. We all met at a designated area before the race, chatted, took some pictures, got to know one another then after the race many of us went to HockeyTown which is right across from where the beginning of the race was and had a nice lunch and wonderful converstion.

If you are not up to the walk, the trolley is an option.

    kats aka Mary

    PS
I see you have sons in the military, me too. My son is 32 yrs old and in the Air Force stationed in Florida.

    Anne,
I’m sure you feel like you’ve been run over by a truck right now since you are still going through treatment but 6 months may make all the difference in the world. The trolley is a wonderful idea and you get a bird’s eye view. We tease Irene (SEI) that she needs to break something because she is a great photographer and got the best shots from the trolley.

    All,

This is the first hint from Mary (Kats)…
…. a butterfly theme. She got the idea from an American Indian Legend.
    Quote:

    ________________________________________

According to an American Indian Legend:

If anyone desires a wish to come true they must first capture a butterfly and whisper that wish to it.

Since a butterfly can make no sound, the butterfly can not reveal the wish to anyone but the Great Spirit who hears and sees all.

In gratitude for giving the beautiful butterfly its freedom, the Great Spirit always grants the wish.

So, according to legend, by making a wish and giving the butterfly its freedom, the wish will be taken to the heavens and be granted.

I like it! What do you think?

Also, about changing the name. I had the feeling that Komen had issues with “Breastcancer.org, Cybersisters and Friends”. Maybe it was copyright problems or advertising but they referred to us in public mail as “Cybersisters”. Could have just been too long, who knows? But, Mary suggested…
"Wings of Hope" or "On the Wings of Hope" for a Cure".

See I told you she was talented! We have plenty of time for input. She has more ideas!

Ooooh! Wings of Hope--we can be wings. I wing it all the time so I'll fit right in. Um,,,,when is the Komen walk? The dates, that is?

And you'll be surprised how much better you'll be feeling by June, Anne.

The race date is Saturday June 16th.
You wrote "we can be wings" well, how would you feel about wearing them on your head?

HI Everyone! God & bad news--I got a good colonoscopy report and a good endoscopy report. I was also okayed for SS Disability. The bad is that I have a new and "different" infiltrate that appeared on a chest x ray that I apparently had taken in Dec. (I have a hard time remembering all these procedures). They just called me now & said I "must" have yet another CAT scan of my lung to see what is going on. I'm scheduled for total replacement of my right knee on Jan. 24. If they do both knees (nopt likely), I'll be walking in June. If not I guess it's the trolley. In any case I'm a little scared the nursing home stuff after surgery.

If anyone reads this, prayers please. I was going to ignor the infiltratrate they found on my Dec. x ray, but after a wonderful weekend visiting my daughter's family & touching base with a former student in Kalamazoo, I returned home to a message that said the new infiltrate was in the other lung, not the one that had infiltrates before & my doctor wants it scanned before my knee surgery. My son says I "catastrophize" (worry unnecessarily), but I have to confess to being scared now.

    Janis,
Will you consider coming to Detroit for the Race For The Cure June 16th?
Me,DH and granddaughter(s) are planning on making the drive up from Chicago again this year for the Race. Last year we drove up on Friday and stayed Friday and Saturday night at the Doubletree in Dearborn.

For those of you who remember that my DH has been having stomach problems, an update.

On December 22, my oldest friend suggested (based on the experiences of HER oldest friend) that he might be sensitive to MSG. In the last three weeks, I have cooked most of what we have eaten, and read all the labels of prepared stuff. We are beginning to be convinced that MSG is indeed the problem. Since we changed his diet, his blood pressure has begun to stabilize, his fainting spells have almost disappeared and he feels much less tired. Best of all, he has gained four pounds in the last three weeks. He was down to 115#, stripped, on the day before we started his new diet. Weighed in at 119#, stripped, yesterday. He still looks like a skeleton, but I think we've turned a corner. MSG is nasty stuff. If you think this might be a problem for you or for somebody you know, PM me. We can talk.
