I'm 23 years old and felt a lump in my left breast about a month ago. It feels smooth, round, moveable, and doesn't hurt. I scheduled an appointment with my GP and she recommended an ultrasound. I went for the ultrasound last week and they said it has the characteristics of a fibroadenoma but because it is close to the nipple it could also be a ductal papilloma, which they would remove surgically and further examine. They recommended a core biopsy to know for sure. I had the biopsy done this morning and I'm glad it's over but I'm getting anxious about waiting for the results. I work in the OR so being involved in lumpectomies, mastectomies, and reconstructions isn't helping my anxiety. I'm feeling mostly optimistic that it is just a fibroadenoma, especially given my age, but sometimes it's hard not to think about worse case scenarios. I'm so glad I found this community though, you all are a wonderful bunch of supportive ladie and I wish you all the best

    Hi all,

I'm 39, had mammogram and ultrasound that were both negative! Having bloody discharge in just one breast that is not constant, but only happened a few times. Not feeling any lumps or knots.... so...... I'm waiting to see my surgeon next week to see what my biopsy options are. Good luck to you, hope everything comes back fine!

    Hi Christina & ladies,

I am fresh off the lump, core biopsy, surgery, train. My lump was about the size of one of those little bouncy balls. On the ultrasound it looked uneven, almost like when there are smaller bubbles on a bigger bubble. I had the core biopsy and waited in vain for the results. That came back as a Phyllodes tumor. I was told it was benign but I still needed to have it removed because it can keep growing. On my visit to the Oncology surgeon, he says, "well it says benign but they want it out just to be sure". Ugh. Back to the worrying. But I tried to keep the initial diagnosis in my head so that I could only think positive thoughts about it. On June 30th I had surgery to remove it. This whole thing is quite an ordeal but not all endings are difficult. The final diagnosis was a fibroadenoma about the size of a golf ball. I have a 2 inch scar and my breast has an indent but I'm ok. Prayers and good thoughts your way!!!
