So where is my 'tummy tuck'????
So, I had my diep in Apr 2017 and read about how some say they got a 'tummy tuck'. Well, I have to say that once the tightness wore off my tummy looks bigger, almost like it did before 😣
I am wondering what happened to me....???? Anyone else not celebrating a flat tummy after diep or am I the only one experiencing this??? I hope not. Maybe it can still happen in stage 2???? 🤔
Thank you for listening ☺

I had a totally flat tummy after my diep. They used everything for my left side. Could you still have swelling? The second part fat transfer they used my thighs.

Kalli44,
I've got the same complaint. I had BMX with immediate DIEP flap reconstruction on April 4th, and my belly seems bigger than before my surgery I was very short waisted before, now I swear I'm "no-waisted". I struggle to keep my pants from falling down. Belts help, but only a little.
I spoke to my PS about it this week. He said I should just try to lose more weight. Gee, thanks. I'll get right on that.

DIEP does seem to make us shorter waisted. During stage 2 they should work on the tummy to restore the waist and lipo the upper abdomen area to match the now flat(ter) lower. Note: not all DIEP flap surgeons do this though as they feel their job is all about the breasts after stage 1. I went to NOLA and they do all those things in stage 2 to put you back to as close as you were prior to surgery.
We will now gain/lose weight differently too. Some report problem with lymph drainage causing abdominal swelling too. I know I'm bigger when I get home after work but it's all evened out come morning.

Hi Meow13, did you have stacked diep if they used everything for single breast reconstruction? Jean

I am not sure. I had enough skin and apparently enough tissue they told me they used everything. Tummy was super flat after. I still had fat from legs for 2nd fat transfer, at the time my bmi was about 21.5. I put weight on after AI treatment now the weight is coming off again.

Hey everyone 😊
Trish what a negative thing for ur PS to say to you. Makes me so mad when someone, who has no idea what we have and are going through, says stupid stuff...😠 I have an appointment 3 weeks prior to my stage 2, I am making the app for some time in Oct, I am going to ask PS to take as much fat out as he possibly can... after all this crap...we deserve to get something nice out of this....don't you Think? Hopefully he listens 🙄
Wishing everyone a good night.

My 4 day countdown to DIEP...
I have perfectly positioned veins! My husband and I met with surgeon today. He said my CT scan of abdomen show the best possible access to veins. We had tons of questions but in the end I am pretty sure this will happen Thursday. Nervous but much more calm after talking to doctor. So for next 3 days I will get work stuff in order and finish planting and gardening projects so next week I can sit in backyard "peacefully"while recuperating. I plan to get back to work from my home office within 2 weeks...
