Sucess with Zoladex in preserving fertitlity
I apologize if its a repeated topic or sub part of some large topic , just wanted a guesstimate if zoladex injection while doing chemo worked in preserving fertility. I am undergoing neoadjuvant chemo ( DD AC done , DD taxol 3 left) and will still be 34 once chemo surgery done.Just wanted to read success stories if zoladex was worth all hype and pain

Following up! I am also interested in this topic.

@Aleksandra30 From some of the posts that i have read here and from some other places , there are woman who became pregnant without zoladex d whereas there are some who swear that it was zoladex that preserved their ovaries and helped them get pregnant.
I wish there was some kind of study that could help with it.
As for me i still have 2 chemo treatments left , then surgery and radiation (neoadjuvant). So far i had 4 zoladex shots and will have one more in next treatment

Thank you! I'll talk to my oncologist about it. Did you also freeze your eggs?
-
No i didn't . I was given the option but it seemed too overwhelming at that time so me and DH decided not to
Are you planning to freeze?
-
Yes, I am starting the process today and I am seeing my oncologist tomorrow (hopefully she will approve of this). I actually got recommendation from surgeon to get this going so that we can start chemo as soon as possible.

Thats great..Oncologist generally give 2-3 weeks for fertility treatment ( mine did)..All the best with your fertility treatment hope it goes smooth :-)

I was on zoladex shot during chemo. I got pregnant naturally exactly a year after chemo in October of 2016 but miscarriaged. I got pregnant again with IUI (semi natural) in January this year, 7 month now. I swear zoladex helped because my AMh level didn't get affected as much as they thought it would. I did also freezed Embroyos. Happy to answer any questi

thank you for posting a reply. Tell me more about your story if you don't mind. How many kids. The IUi process. How do I feel now. What type of cancer did you have? Were your oncologist supportive

@NYinshocked Thats great news ..you must be really excited to meet your new bundle of joy
Were you also on hormonal treatment ? How old(young:)) were you when you started the treatment? Also what chemo cocktail did you get?

hi bravemama, this will be my first kid. I was dx with TNBC at 32, 7 months after married my husband. I was thought waiting to have a kid after established career and relationship is better choice for me but guess life can change with one lump. I wasn't stage2B, so had ACT and carbo, probably most strong chemo combo. My period came back 5 month after chemo. I didn't have have to be any hormone Therapy so we started trying exactly a year post chemo.
-
also my oncologist wanted me to wait 2 years post chemo mainly for recurrence monitoring but since triple neg is so aggressive if it's going to come back it will come back regardless pregnancy or not. So I waited 2 years since dx, not pst chemo

Thanks NYinShocked for information

hi I am new to BC.org and this forum, i’m 31 and just had surgery for stage 3B IDC, I did a lot of research regarding fertility preservation.
There is a foundation: https://www.livestrong.org/we-can-help/livestrong-fertility
They are an awesome resource for anyone with breast cancer and they help pay for fertility preservation. I did the application and they call you and assign you a contact person, my contact was Maggie and she called and checked on me 2-3 times a week during the process. I’m from NH and preservation isn’t covered by my insurance, Maggie said I qualified for over $5,000 in assistance, they even have some meds that they send you for free if those are the ones your fertility doc prescribes
