Ductal Carcinoma In Situ

Hi everyone, my mother had a Ductal Carcinoma in SITU mastectomy back in May.

The description is as follows:

Modified Black's Nuclear Grade 3. 7-MM Focus Tumor less than 1 MM Inked (Orange) Anterior Margin removed back in May.

All other areas are shown to have Benign Breast Tissue.

We are trying to determine if someone with the Ductal Carcinoma mastectomy would typically have radiation therapy and if so how much?

Also, is there a radiation pill available?

Thanks.

hgoodwiniii, has your mother met with a RO (radiation oncologist)? For pure DCIS (no micro invasion or invasive disease) it is not typical to have rads after mx, but there are cases where it is recommended for specific reasons. Meeting with an RO would give you and your Mom peace of mind in knowing when rads are recommended post mx for DCIS, and does she meet any of these criteria for it to be considered for her. Good luck!
