Ladies I am in search of others who have had BMX and been told there was not enough tissue for bilateral DIEP unless implants were placed underneath. Basically I guess those of us on the thinner side... When faced with this back in 2011 I thought it would be easier to just go for implants... I did the Tissue Expanders and exchange surgery. Six years later I am scheduled for revision (not till December) to go back and have smaller implants put in, w/ DIEP on top. I am now post-menopausal and have a little more chub on the tum... also I have continued to be athletic and I really dislike the look of the implants as they have been affected by my active life I think and can look really distorted when I move. I really don't want this major surgery! but it is scheduled. Even though I am scared. and I work for a very small company and I don't know how to deal with a month or more off work...

I would love to connect with anyone facing a similar set of circumstances. Past, present, or future. Especially would like to talk to athletic people.

Thank you very much,

Michele

LMichele- where are you having your flap surgery? Hybrid flaps that include implants are sometimes done but I hear more about evaluating for stacked flap first. That may be something to look into/ask anout

    Lula,

Hi, thanks for reply! I will be at Univ of Pennsylvania, Dr. Kanchwala.

I thought I read that stacked is what they would do to get you enough for one side if you were doing a single...

I know the Penn practices does many diep etc. surgeries per week, so I am not (overly) worried about their skill or what they recommend for me, I just can't seem to find anyone to talk to who had or is about to have, same procedure...! any leads let me know :)

    Michele
