Elevated D Dimer Levels & Mets

! have just spent the weekend in the ED because of elevated D Dimer levels. I saw my PCP on Friday because of pain in my lower leg so she sent me for a blood test re a possible blood clot. The results showed a level way above normal (499) so I was sent to the ED where they did more blood levels and a doppler US which showed no blood clot. However the docs kept saying that that elevated D Dimer levels were also linked to underlying cancer, particularly mets, and they have made an appointment for me with my MO.

Has anyone had mets or a recurrence diagnosed because of unexplained high Dimer D levels? I would really appreciate help from anyone who knows anything about this.

    my cousin is having the same issue d dimer is crazily high, and yes, her BC recurred. She has been on chemo twice already, but d dimmer kept increasing like crazy. Does anyone know why?
