    I read an article that according to most recent research, administration of chemotherapy prior to surgery induced metastases. I'd like hear from people who had that type of therapy. Especially, if  it was a while ago.

    Maria: There has been significant discussion about this. I'd be interested to see where everyone is 'reading' this article. The conclusion I drew is that you should go ahead with neo-adjuvant chemo as your doc recommends. You'll find lots of links w/in the link below. Start with the first post & continue.

    Huh? My neoadjuvant chemo wiped out the cancer in my breast and compromised node. I was able to have a lumpectomy because my 5 cm+ lump had disappeared. No mets here!

    There is all sorts of bogus 'junk' that can be found on the internet that is simply designed for personal agendas and to scare those who are looking for 'something' to be scared by. Your first post and you bring up 'this'? Without any thing about why you brought it up?

    I don't know what you mean by "a while ago". I started my neoadjuvant Chemo in Aug '09. - so next month will be 8 yrs since starting neoadjuvant DD A/C. For some of us, (IBC) neoadjuvant has been the Standard for TX for years before me. I found out when I hit a year after DX that none of my Drs had expected me to make it a year. For IBC (Inflammatory Breast Cancer) the 'stats' of making it 5 yrs are 25%. I've beat those 'odds'. Still here and still NED (No Evidence of Disease). So no mets.

    I'd still like to know where Maria just happened to read this article.

    And I'd like to know if she has been diagnosed with breast cancer, which we can't tell because there is no profile. Maria - have you been offered this protocol for breast cancer?

    It's click bait!! I wonder how many people read it thoroughly and actually understood it, or just read the head line and assumed the worst? I didn't read it as it does not apply to my circumstances.

    Just because it's on the internet, doesn't make it true.

    I know there is some discussion on googling or not, this is a good reason why some people shouldn't.

    There is also the point that there are so many with personal agendas to promote - not all 'honorable" - but often to victimize the vulnerable. I do have to admit that I am a BIG time Googler on a multitude of topics and will continue to be. With the internet it's a lot easier to checkout something than dig through my library or have to go down to the Public Library when seeking info on a topic I have no books on. With that said - there is a LOT of totally BOGUS 'carp' on line claiming to be fact/reseach/science that the 'vulnerable' will choose to latch onto.

    Six years ago I had neoadjuvant chemotherapy prior to XX Mastectomies for advanced metastatic cancer. The pathology reports showed no cancer in my breasts or the 14 lymphnodes removed following mastectomies.

    The advantage of neo therapy is you know how your cancer has responded and if additional treatment is needed. The only mulligan I would wish for would be to reconsider the XX mastectomies since the chemo eliminated the cancer.

    Oh yeah - the first surgeon I consulted with gave me a life expectancy of five years. I have exceeded my expiration date by two years and am a NED

    Mammyof4 - I'm with you! If only they could be totally sure with imaging and avoid the need for surgery with PCR ...

    Neoadjuvant chemo is the best news for some of us.
