Adrenal mets

Options

I recently had an abdominal/pelvic CT scan with contrast to be sure the spots on my liver ultrasound were just a sign of fatty liver. Liver is fine but there was an incidental finding of a nodule (9mm) on adrenal gland. The radiologist said that a CT scan without contrast would give a definitive answer and so that was ordered for two months from now.

I am reading that adrenal mets from breast cancer is uncommon so I was curious to know whether anyone here had these mets? Thanks.

    Hi Wrenn:

A few years back when I was NED, I had an ultrasound of my abdomen for heartburn and a nodule showed up on my adrenal gland. My GP told me then it is a common thing and is harmless and benign. Last fall in November 2016, I had another ultrasound of my abdomen (checking out ongoing heartburn issues) and the nodule was still there. My GP ordered an MRI to investigate further, but he told me the nodule had not changed in size from last time. He just wanted to make double sure it was not secreting excess hormones or starting to. The MRI was scheduled for end of March 2017.

When I was dx with BC for the second time in Feb 2017, my GP cancelled the MRI because he said I really didn't need it. I can't have an MRI now because of tissue expanders placement when I had my mastectomy. I told my MO about the nodule on my adrenal gland, and she was not alarmed either.

I wonder if your nodule is the same thing as mine since its common? My GP and MO called it an "incidentaloma"

Thank you so much Wallan for taking the time to give me such an in depth response. That really put my mind at ease. I was reading about incidentalomas and am sure now that is what it is so will not worry waiting for scan. thank you so much.

I went for a PET scan and they found a tumor on my left adrenal gland. Radiologist suspects breast cancer mets as it was very strong on the scan. I am getting the adrenal gland removed..I had a Pet scan 7 months ago and it was normal...so this tumor has happened in the last 7 months...

Sorry to hear this duchessoftea. Please update when you get the results. I hope it is benign but it is a worry I am sure.

Hoping it's a benign tumor of some other origin.

Wrenn, I hope you're doing well to :)

KBeee, I have such fond memories of our 2013 group and seeing you here always makes me feel like we are all a huge team. :-)

I also think of you every time a new nephew joins paramedics. I now have 5 of them who are paramedics or fire fighters or both.

Hope you are doing well. I'm good except for the psychological part (which we all know never goes away and I imagine even worse after a recurrence). xo
