"Benign appearing" yet MD requested more tests.

Here is what I don't get. Went in for screening because I have a pea size lump on breast. The CAD picked up a suspicious area on other breast. Was told by mammogram tech. Then pick up report today-said barely anything. "Benign appearing" "BiRADs 2 suspected" and got my with disc images. Then was told by nurse I needed to have a diagnostic screening and ultrasound and doctor would write order.

BiRads 2 not malignant and benign appearing in same sentence. So why am I getting more tests? Is someone not telling me something?

    Beats me, unless they are talking about a different area than the 2. Usually they say Birads 0 if they think they need more views to decide. Maybe your doc is just neing extra cautious or thinks the resilts are discordant with what he felt

    It is very common to go back for a diagnostic mammo and an ultrasound after a screening mammo. Try not to borrow trouble or worry too much.
