Coffee is good for you
I thought I was post this article here, because I have noticed that many people give up coffee when DXed with cancer.

I think I will pour myself a second cup!!!

I "religiously" drink 2 cups a day, never more never less, lol. My little girl wants to lick the cup when I'm done with the second helping. She excitedly waits, and absolutely knows when I've gotten the last cup. Sometime I have to hide it from her, and drink the coffee in secret. I guess you can tell who rules the roost in my house!

Hooray for drinking coffee!

Being Asian, I particularly appreciate the inclusion of different races/ethnicities in this research.

I love coffee, but it hasn't appealed to me since I've started chemo. Hopefully it'll start tasting good pretty soon.

Two a day here.

I was pregnant with my daughter when it was considered terribly dangerous for pregnant women to drink coffee. I gave up booze and cigarettes no problem, but giving up my morning coffee was absolutely the worst thing about the pregnancy. When the kid was a few years old, a new study concluded that it wasn't, after all, dangerous for pregnant women to drink coffee in moderation. I was pretty steamed, and vowed that I was never giving it up again. So, it is nice to see that my vow may not have been such a bad thing.

Not good if you have reflux or hypertension. I can handle one cup only and suffer reflux and palpitations if I have more. So love the one cup though.

I used to be a 2-3 cups a day person. Strangely enough when I was dxd with liver mets, coffee relieved my pain and discomfort. So lets just say I drink a lot more of it now.

It bronchodilates me as well as (and more tastily than) my Ventolin inhaler. Gonna flip on my espresso machine; while it heats up, will brew myself an Aeropress of Ethiopia Sidamo...

I drink 2 cups a day. I used to be a really big coffee drinker, and I would drink 7 cups on weekdays, but then on weekends when I was not working I would sleep in, and then I would get rebound migraine headaches. I decided to give up coffee cold turkey, which I don't recommend, and for the first week I got tons of rebound headaches. The headaches then went away, and on the rare occasional I did drink coffee when I went out to eat, I would get all wound up. I did not drink caffeine for six months, and quit getting headaches. I also worked in a nursing home where we got a new administrator, who decided that the staff would only get decaf coffee on their breaks. After six months he changed his mind, and I started going back to consuming caffeine, but I limited it to two cups a day. Now I only get migraines maybe once or twice a year, and they are not as bad as they used to be. If I do not drink at least some caffeine, I often get a headache/ When I was going through chemo last summer, coffee did not turn me on, and I only drank a cup every day so I would not get any headaches. Part of the problem if you drink a lot of coffee, and you add cream and sugar to it, it adds a lot of calories. I never buy creamer, and only use 1% milk in my coffee and a teaspoon of sugar in each cup.

Wow, I am feeling extremely healthy after reading your link, Heidi! Along with the coffee, I eat a couple ounces of dark chocolate (at least 70% cocoa) every single day.

One wonderful thing about the past 20 years is how easy it now is to get GOOD coffee! Of course, I live in a place where every hamlet has its own coffee roaster and every strip mall has a drive up espresso place. That said, I am primarily a tea drinker, and by this, I mean industrial strength black tea - what the Brits drink.
I am so glad there will be coffee at the start of the Seattle-to-Portland on Saturday. It's part of my energy/hydration plan along with lots of sugar, fat, water, and electrolytes. All are essential for long distance rides.
Can't wait for my cup of Joe! - Claire

Amapola, I still remember what you wanted to do with your coffee
The best coffee I ever had was in Spain, the coffee was good everywhere. Cuarenta y Tres (43) was something else I fell in love with there. I drank bottles of it.
