Since starting tamoxifen my oestrogen levels are higher?!?

hi All

I've had my oestrogen levels monitored since the time of diagnosis and although they were in the normal ranges to begin with they have now tripled! My GP is quite concerned and has sent me for follow up testing. Also myhair started falling out as soon as I started tamoxifen so I started high dose biotin.

Has anyone had this happen? Are there natural supplements that can help - I've heard DIM is strong but effective?

I think that's right... I think I read that tamoxifen makes your estrogen levels soar, but the receptors get blocked so that's where the cancer protection comes from.

Sonya, the same happened to me and I had to add zoladex to my treatment because allthis extra estrogen in my body started giving me a lot of pain during the ovulation period and complex ovarian cysts...

Have the ovaries checked for cysts. My estrogen also went sky high on tamoxifen and it was because of an ovarian cyst.

yes that's how tamoxifen works. It blocks the estrogen receptors on the cells and it has nowhere to go. Your liver will metabolize it but it can only do so much... in the meantime the cells can't access it and that's the gial
