Hi everyone,

I discovered I had triple negative breast cancer only by finding the enormous 4.5 cm enlarged lymph node under my left arm. The breast mass is still less than 1.5 cm and is undetectable by self exam. I live in Houston and am being treated at MD Anderson. The cancer is so aggressive that they already suspect as many as 7 lymph nodes (3 confirmed) may be involved.

I have been reading the book "Anticancer" and have been following its nutritional advice religiously for the last three weeks in hope it will help slow the progression and am making it a lifestyle change.

Have any of you drastically changed your eating/exercise habits? Did your oncologists make any recommendations? Curious about your results...

Huge hugs to you all! I know I sure need one!

Hi BoobsREvil, so sorry to hear this news. I know exactly how you feel because on July 13, 2015 I too was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast cancer. After biopsies, ultrasounds, and MRI my surgeon said I should have a bilateral mastectomy and that she liked for her patients to have the chemo first. She told me I would have four chemo treatments and then when I met with the oncologists he said I should have 16 treatments, four of Adrimycin and cytoxin, followed by 12 treatments of taxol. At first I was dead set against the chemo but my family doctor said l should hit this with everything I could so I decided to do the chemo. Glad I did, Triple Negative breast cancer is very responsive to chemo, I did have the mastectomy but the chemo had gotten all the cancer. Mine had not spread to any lymph nodes. My biggest suggestion to you is do your homework about mastectomies and other choices. Also get a second opinion, I wish I had. They have come along way with TN and I know you will do just fine. Keep a positive attitude and I will keep you in my prayers.

HI! I Saw an integrative medicine oncologist at the beginning of my chemo --oen thing she told me was not to start anti-oxidants type of supplements durign chemo as we dont want anything to affect the effectiveness of chemo. I cut back on caffeine during chemo . Shoudl make sure to get lots of protein during chemo.

After completion of chemo , its ok to then start the green tea etc etc

Above is my experience only ---you shoudl ask your doctors for advice before beginning any supplements

I wish you the best! You will do well!

Hi! When I got this diagnosis I cried for hours and scared myself by googling way too much. However, I then started looking for survivor stories. Almost all of them had to do with drastic changes in diet and exercise. Look up Jennifer Griffin's story and be inspired. I'm going to formulate my own plan based on her and other stories. A definite is at least 3 hours of exercise a week that gets your heart rate up. Limit or cut out alcohol. Limit dairy. Low saturated fat diet.Organic food. No processed foods. Following a Mediterranean diet seems to be common. I've also been reading bad things about peanuts and peanut products, of which I eat too much!

My focus is the exercise and Mediterranean diet. I will limit alcohol, but I still eat some processed foods.
