They found a tumor
I'm 27 year old single mom. I had radiation treatment when I was 14 for lymphoma. Besides alopecia and dairy intolerance im a heathy. But the last 9months I have been exhausted beyond belief, affecting my school, work and family life. I don't have the energy to do anything it seems. Last week I went in for routine check up and the radiologist found a tumor in my right posterior breast. I don't feel anything but I'm going in for additional mammogram and ultrasound this week, and I'm assuming a biopsy soon after. I know at younger age it's "rare" to develop BC but with my history I'm freaking out. . .

MB, Sorry you found yourself here. It is unusual to be DX'd with BC in a woman your age.. Try not to worry. Don't forget to get copies of your imaging reports. Not to worry you, but my half-sister was DX'd 20 yrs ago at 27 yrs old and she is doing fine:). .. since then, there has been much progress in treatments. Best wishes for benign findings.

mamabear-I'm a fellow childhood lymphoma survivor who had rads to chest. I so hope this turns out to be benign for you. However, if it doesn't, My best advice is, "you've done this once before and came out the other side stronger...you CAN do it again."
Feel free to read this next part now or you can save it for later if you find out it's not benign. After much discussion and research I decided BMX as the bc risk for us is high post childhood rads to the chest (80% chance of developing bc). In addition we've typically already maxed out our radiation to the chest lifetime maximum exposure making lumpectomy a no go as we can't have rads again. I opted for immediate DIEP flap reconstruction (traveled to the center for restorative breast surgery in New Orleans for it) as the chest radiation we had causes tissue damage to the chest wall which compromises our outcomes with implant recon (the tissue won't hold the implants in place well and they can migrate up toward your collarbone or down toward abdomen).
Feel free to PM me if you have questions, need to vent or just want to touch base with someone whose "been there and done that and is now faced with this". Crossing my fingers and praying it turns out to be nothing

I am also a 27 year old mom. I am waiting on results of some biopsys from some tumors today.
It is rare for women our age to develop breast cancer but not unheard of. I have a few risk factors like you that only add to how anxious the wait for results can make you. I hope you don't feel I like do that everyone is trying to dismiss the fact that it is still serious even though you are young.
Best of wishes in good results for you.
