ok so I had a mammogram, ultrasound and a fine needle biopsy 9 days ago after finding a lump ( I have another post about waiting and stress etc with all the details in , so I won't go over everything again) since then I have been told that blood or any shade of pink / red is bad news generally.

This was a nurse and radiographer, plus a friend and my aunt who's had BC.

Is this true? Mine was bright pink and blood streaked.

The nurse said they are happy to see any colour basically but not pink / red.

She said green, yellow, white, black etc but not red .

Can someone confirm this or are these people just going from their own experiences?

Can blood in the biopsy be ok?

My results are in and I need to go to the breast surgeon to be given them .

I had been told by the clinic that if it was not of concern to them they would ring me and let me know, so to get the dreaded appointment letter was a big worry this morning.

If you didn't believe two professionals and a family member you are unlikely to believe strangers on an internet forum.

It isn't that I don't believe them but I guess I am looking for hope that not everyone who has pink / red material from a needle biopsy has a malignant tumour.

Is it 100% guaranteed that is an indication of cancer or does this happen sometimes with benign tumours or other breast conditions also

I wouldn't put too much stock in the color alone. If that was the only indicator, there would be no need to send it to pathology. Unfortunately, you will just have to be patient and wait for the results - it's really hard to wait, I know, but you will drive yourself crazy trying to guess what the results will be.

Puddle - nothing is guaranteed, one way or the other. BTW - if you stick to posting on the same one thread, we can read the back story. It's too difficult for people to go searching previous threads and the background is often important for the story.

My biopsy results came back positive for BC.

Booked in for surgery in two , had biopsy on lymph nodes today.

So in my case red blood in the needle biopsy was not a good sign after all.

I would think we all have red blood in a needle biopsy, since the biopsy causes bleeding. I don't think there is a correlation to results.
