For those of you who have completed 4 biweekly dd AC treatments and weekly taxel treatments which did you find was harder side effect wise? I am completing my 4th AC next Friday and two weeks after that my first of 12 taxel treatments. Just wondering how side effects may differ from one to the other. Herceptin and Perjeta will also accompany my Taxel.

hhuey - you should join one of the Chemo thread - like chemo July 2017 or the month before to read what everyone is going through. It was great for me to have contemporaneous feed back.

Great question, I wish I had a more specific thread addressing this topic before I started chemo. There is so much extra stuff to comb through on the other Chemo threads. I finished the treatment you mentioned 3 weeks ago except I didn't have the Herceptin or Perjeta. I would say, for me, that AC was much more difficult. Fatigue was worse as well a nausea or uncomfortable stomach. I was still tired on taxol but not exhausted like on AC. Good luck, it gets better!!

hhuey, AC was tougher than THP. I never had any nausea, vomiting or upset stomach but I was really tired the first 4-6 days after chemo and the loss of my taste buds was terrible. I ate a lot of spicy Mexican food just so I could really taste something. THP was relatively easy. I was tired for a couple days and my taste buds were off for about 24 hours after the infusion. The fatigue was cumulative though. I felt more tired as the weeks went on. Good luck to you!

For me - 4 DD A/C was 'easy' - did not slow me down at all. 12 weekly Taxol was not so 'nice' - I was completely and utterly EXHAUSTED the entire time basically existing either in bed or on the couch in front of the TV. I did A/C neoadjuvant and UMX 2 weeks after last A/C. Then 3 weeks post UMX I started adjuvant Taxol. So a very different TX plan than most will do.

So for me - A/C not 'bad': Taxol 'bad'. For others, it's the reverse.

A/C was horrible for me. I was fine the day I got it up until about day three after infusion and was out of commission until about day six. Nausea was bad but the worst thing for me was the mouth and throat sores. That was just horrible. I couldn't eat without using "Magic swizzle" mouthwash to numb my mouth and even then certain foods would still burn my mouth...ugh...and I love to eat!!

Taxol on the other hand was easy compared to that. A little fatigue but I worked full time through it all.
