I was diagnosed on December 19th, and due to my blood pressure spiking up (due to the stress undoubtedly) I had to postpone surgery until that got under control. Had my lumpectomy on February 23rd.

Autum1031, one of the women in our office had a lumpectomy last year, and missed one day of work. I think the plane trip and fear of any blood clots would be more of a problem than not feeling well enough. Everyone is different, of course

Your brain goes intoTake your time to make the opinion overload on information sometimes at the beginning, definitely. Read through information on this site first that has facts. Then when you have questions you can go to the boards on how people reacted to treatments. Listen to your doctors and then also to yourself. You have to make the brest decision for you.

I'm triple negative as well and have had surgery. I've just finished my second round of AC. My surgery was 13 days after diagnosis due to MRI showing a second unknown mass right above (3mm) the pectoral muscle. I was going to do a lumpectomy before that mass was found. The people on the boards strongly suggested an MRI before making a surgical decision (or doing chemo first) and I'm so glad I listened to their advice!

I had surgery six months after diagnosis but I was busy. It took a month of preparation for chemo and then I had 4 months of chemo with a little over a month of recovery from the chemo and then surgery. It was worth doing the chemo first since it got the tumor small enough to do a lumpectomy rather than a mastectomy.

Hi Irwells50 ..I realize it's been over a year since your surgery and I hope you are doing well... I was diagnosed 5 days ago with ILC at 66 years old as well and was wondering if you could give me some insite into your recovery period .. I dont see my BS till 5/23 but am strongly considering the same surgical options as you .. I (hopefully) do not want to revisit this in years to come .. Thank you
