Hi all. What are the ways you've expressed thanks to friends and family who have shown their support or have done something for you such as taken notes at appointments or let you stay at their house during recovery? One of the support guides I've been given says to give a gift to the person who does something for you. I'm all for doing that but cancer is expensive! What are some of your creative, inexpensive but expressive thank yous?

Personally I don't think a gift is necessary, unless you wish to. A card or note expressing your gratitude and/or a hug and kiss, or as KB mentioned invite them for a meal or drink. It's about acknowledging their effort and your gratitude.

I recently wrote thank you notes to those who had sent meals after surgery and those who had been supportive all along. They were certainly heartfelt since some brought tears to my eyes just writing them. I think that's all that most people want - to feel appreciated.
