Lotion Recommendation during Radation
I'm starting radiation in 2 weeks. Any recommendations on which lotions work best

You need to discuss with your radiation oncologist. Each of them has a particular protocol they recommend.

Miaderm. It's available at most pharmacies at their counter, does not need a rx. Available on Amazon too. Bought it for my mom and she loved it as well. It was created by a radiologist specific for radiation pts. Worked very well for me.

Before you spend money on lotions, please check with your RO they all have different lotions. I was told Aloe Vera 100% and aquaphor. Due to itching and 28 out of 36 she just gave me samples of Calmoseptine

I used Aquaphor. There lots of small sized tubes of it in my radiologists office. Never burned or blistered.

A coworker gave me an aloe plant. I cut the leaves into strips and found the juice to be soothing. That and aquaphor were all I was told to use.

They will tell you what they want you to do. I was horribly allergic to the miaderm (thankfully they have a money back guarantee which I used), but I have heard a lot of people like it.

Hi there - I used Miaderm immediately after treatments. Then for the rest of the day I alternated between aloe gel and coconut oil. At night when I had the most discomfort, I found Aquaphor to work the best. I went red towards the end of each full week but never blistered.
Everyone says to check with your RO.....my dr really didn't recommend anything and left it entirely to me....
Best of luck!

I use green tea, Calendula Gel and Emu Oil. I steep 1 tea bag in about 4 to 5 ounces of boiling water and let it sit for about 15 min. I want it to be strong. I store the tea in the refrigerator in a glass bottle. I only use the tea for 2 days and then throw it out and brew another fresh cup. I have a small zip lock bag for each day of the week w/ 2 cotton squares/pads in each baggie. I use those because they are larger than a cotton ball and work better. Every day before heading to radiation I pour enough green tea into 1 baggie to really saturate the cotton. I take the baggie and Calendula with me to treatment. As soon as treatment is over and I'm back in the dressing room I use the cotton soaked in green tea to "bathe" my entire breast, arm pit and up to collar bone. I fan myself to dry then apply the Calendula. I repeat this process at home 2 more times each day. Then at bed time I massage Emu Oil into the same area.
I ran all of this by my RO and she was fine with it but check with your doctor if you consider any of this. I'm 10 treatments in - 6 to go and I can't tell I've had anything done at this point. On Monday my RO actually got to see me apply the green tea and she was amazed. The cotton squares are quite hot after I finish rubbing the tea on my skin from drawing out the heat. She also was amazed because she said she could literally see the redness disappearing from my skin right in front of her eyes.
My RO was a little skeptical about the green tea but said it couldn't hurt. She's a believer now :-) So far I'm having great luck with this process. Good luck to you!! I found it nice once I got started - it's great to mark those days off the calendar!
