Moles all over body
Hi all,
I have been getting many moles on the body lately, still half way through my chemo of TCHP. Wondering if anyone has had this kind of a side effect. The moles I have are the ones we have during birth, some of them that we use as birth marks. They are like black dots on the skin, they are starting as brown spots and then turning black over time. I have it all over my body and face now.
This is scaring me out, I hardly expose myself to the sun. Wondering if this is a side effect of the chemo. If anyone has this kind of experience, pls let me know. That would be so helpful. Thanks for sharing!

bcan - Have you asked your MO? That's where I'd start. Then you need to make an appointment with a dermatologist. Sometimes there is a long wait for derm docs. If so, have your MO intercede and get you in sooner.

I'd have talked to my Chemo Dr (MO) and also made an appt with my Dermatologist.. The 2 issues may be related but may not be. Chemo Drs experize is dealing with chemo and related 'stuff' - Dermatologists expertize is skin.

I spoke to my MO and she said she has seen some of her patients who had freckles and moles increased during chemo. She said we can watch it for a while and see. Some of these may go away after the chemo or lighten up. I think I will wait and see how my skin reacts further.

I am just done w 4 DD AC and 4 DD Taxol. (7 days ago) As a result I had quite a browming of hands and feet. I tried wearig epsom salt paste (epsom salt glob) filled socks in the shower. Did the same w my hands by using exfoliating gloves. Worth a try.

And of course the tabloids just posted a warning that freckles are breast cancer. BS.... If you have a question, go to your dermatologist.
I have a full body check every 6 months and have had six MOHS surgeries for basal cell skin cancers. I was fortunate that my chemo cleaned up every bit of actinic keratosis and all the pre-cancerous lesions. My dermatologist was amazed. I told her the improvement wasn't worth the treatment - ha ha ha.

I had melanoma, and I present it as tiny black dots, as though a sharpie marker dotted my skin. Nothing big, nothing irregular, just a tiny black freckle. Please get yourself checked, and push to have at least 1 biopsied. My derm at first dismissed my black dot as nothing...

My derm doc goes over every bit of my body with a very bright light and an experienced touch. She never discounts my questions. Every 6 months she probably freezes 25 pre-cancerous spots and it seems like about once a year I get a biopsy.
But yes, by all means get it checked.

As MinusTwo does - I see my Dermatologit every 6 months for a very thorought check of skin. I've had both SCC (Squamous Cell Carcinoma) and BCC (Basal Cell Carcinoma) and usually get several pre-cancerous 'spots' 'frozen' at each appt.
The best 'response' (other than good results with IBC) from chemo is that I no longer have severe sinus infections that I had lived with all my life, every 4 - 6 months all my life. Since chemo, 7+yrs ago, I have only had a couple of minor sinus infections. For me, definately a positive.
