    sorry this may be a dumb question. But what does first line treatment and second lone treatment mean

    it's the order of treatments a patient has had since diagnosis.

    I.e/ my first treatment was Taxol- first line

    My second was xeloda- 2nd line

    I'm on a trial drug now but considered 3rd line

    If I switch to endocrine therapy it'll technically be 4th line treatment but 1st line endocrine treatment.

    Are you reading about Ibrance? In Canada it's been approved for a while in conjunction with leztrozole as first line hormonal (endocrine treatment) only and last week as 2nd line hormonal, once another hormonal alon has failed patient, in conjunction with fulvestrant.

    Thanks I was confused

    So if it is considered first line why is it not covered provincially? Hospital keeps saying soon possibly this summer or fall. Have you heard that

    it's under stage 2- final approval- by province and has been since November. When something gets health canada approved it then needs to go through each provinces bunch of red tape in terms of accessobility

    So happy everything worked out. Sunlife and empire life cover it. When I first started on it last yr I as refused because they didn't consider it 1st line of treatment. When onc got involved and called them, they accepted.

    This is so very frustrating and makes me very angry. We have to go through all these battles to get drugs that could save us. We're going through enough.
