I go to the doctor next week and will finally get some hard information but I i'm desperate for any information they can give me some better sense of control between now and then.... I'm stage 1 w invasive ductal in one breast and lcis in the other and though I have no formal plan yet, they seem to be saying surgery and radiation. So what does that mean -- how soon do they start you into radiation? All I want is some plan and oh yeah to be on the other side of this looking back...

I started radiation 5 weeks after my lumpectomy. I was diagnosed March 14th had surgery on April 25th and started radiation on May 30th. The first few weeks after being diagnosed were definitely the hardest.

Hi honey, You will get a treatment plan when you go see your doctor. If their saying Surgery and Radiation, those are, of course, two separate things. Normally, you have the Surgery first. Involving maybe a Lumpectomy if your Stage 1. I was a Stage 2. IDC in my left breast, and, I had a Lumpectomy and a Left Mastectomy. Radiation normally follows about 2 months at the most after surgery, so your Breast area gives time for healing. That is the treatment plan I had. But, every case is different. They take in account all different things about your history and breasts. I hope your journey goes well!
