I am feeling the tumor (tingling, heaviness), is it normal?
I was diagnosed with cancer 2 weeks ago after the biopsy. Now waiting to the results of my analysis.
From time to time I am feeling the tumor - some light tingling, heaviness and tension in that area... hard to explain. First I thought it is the consequences of the biopsy but now the bruise is gone (visually) but I still feeling this... I am scaring myself that it is growing or smth else happening there.
Did anyone have similar feelings? Is it normal?
Thank you!

chaffinch, why don't you try posting this in a "just diagnosed" thread? People here in the "not diagnosed with breast cancer" forum don't know the answer to your question.
-
chaffinch - so sorry to hear of your diagnosis. I had similar feelings that you describe. I could never decide if they
were real or because I knew the tumor existed. I had a very large tumor (6 cm) and until it was gone, I always
seemed to "know" it was there after diagnosis.
This whole experience will get better once you know exactly what you are dealing with and have a treatment plan.
It is all so terrifying.
Sending all my best to you!

Thank you so much for your support, Denise!! 💕

i had two biopsies and they both did a number on my tumor, which was inflamed and sore for weeks afterwards. it sounds normal to me.

I had a similar sensation that lasted weeks after my biopsy. I mentioned it to a (cancer center) nurse and he said that the sensation is normal because the nerves are regenerating, even though the bruising is gone.
I was so afraid it was the cancer growing!

During the biopsy a small metal piece is implanted to mark the area. Sometimes, those metal pieces become encapsulated in tissue, which is absolutely normal. You could be feeling the effects of the metal piece.
-
Yes. I felt that for a month after

cornland - "a small piece of metal is iimplanted to mark the spot". For some this is true - but not for all biopsies. There are so many variables with BC types, DX and TX.
-
Oh, thank you for sharing! Now I less worry about it.

I haven't had my biopsies yet. Thorough mammogram and ultrasound this past Thursday. Biopsies scheduled for Wednesday. It is now Sunday and I feel the same things the original poster has. Would it be normal to feel that just from all of the smooshing and prodding I endured?
