IVF with ER+ cancer. Can it grow during ovaries stimulation?

I am 33 and I was diagnosed with a breast cancer 2 weeks ago. I don't have children but hope to have them when I will recover.

We with my husband are thinking about IVF before chemo starts (doctor suggests chemo before the surgery) but I have concerns about it.

My tumor is ER+ PR- (still waiting for Her2 results) so it means it may grow if my body produce estrogen. Doctor said that during IVF they suppress estrogen with some drugs. My lump grew very quickly right after my last period so it seems it is very sensitive to the hormones. So I am afraid what if they suppress it just partially and estrogen level will grow anyway and so does the lump?

Did anyone have the similar diagnosis and went through IVF? How it went?

Thank you!

    Hi Chaffinch,

    Welcome to the forums!

We're really sorry to hear that you've been recently diagnosed but you've come to the right place for support.

May we suggest you take a look at the thread in the link below where other members are talking about IVF before treatment.

I do not have any knowledge of IVF except what I have read posted by others here. It sounded like if 'you' want to do IVF post Chemo it is important to harvest eggs before starting Chemo. Again, as I said all I 'know' is what I've read here from others posts so check out real information AND talk with your IVF Doctor for his/her input on what your TX plan should be - not just the Surgeon and Chemo Drs as their expertise are not in the fertility realm.

    Good luck.
