Nipple discharge, worried

hi there, I've been experiencing clear discharge for the past few weeks (or longer but maybe it was small and I didn't notice). One duct only and so far all tests negative. Mammogram, ultrasound, testing the discharge (it does have blood in it). I am scheduled to have the duct removed and biopsied mid June but I keep flipping from being convinced it's cancer to reminding myself the odds are good that it's not. The surgeon said it wasn't "urgent" but did need to be removed and examined. My mother says she had similar discharge at my age (49). I guess I just wanted to record this no matter what the outcome as I find it helpful reading other people's stories.

It seems to be sore sometimes and now I wonder if the pain comes before the discharge. A little like letdown when breastfeeding.

I hope that even if it is cancer the negative mammogram and ultrasound means early stage.

    Dear all, I am updating with my results as I hate it when other people just vanish off these types of boards. You end up with a bias towards the people who had cancer as they are the people who stay on the board. I ended up having a duct removed under a general. Results took 4 days and came back as a benign intraductal papilloma. It was itchy and leaked a clear fluid that contained blood. It was spontanious and only from one duct on one side. All the red flags. I'm nearly 50 so bs and gp took it very seriously but I'm very glad to be in the common things being most common camp. Best wishes to all on this board. I've read so much over the past month and have been so heartened to see the fantastic increases in survival rates for this common cancer.
