Not a galactocele. What could it be?
I am 36 years old with 5 children. I still nurse my 4 1/2 year old daughter. No family history of BC or any other.
I found a lump in my left breast mid April. It was a week or so before my menstrual cycle so I waited until after AF and checked again. It was still there. When it was still there after May's I decided to call and make an appt. My gynecologist also felt lump so she sent me to local hospital for a diagnostic mammogram (bilateral) and an ultrasound of the left on June 30th.
Findings:
Mammogram: There is an oval, circumscribed mass in the left breast at 3:00, located 6cm from the nipple, which measures 2.7 cm.
Ultrasound: There is an oval, indistinct hypoechoic mass (size and location same as above)
ACR category 4: Recommend attempt at ultrasound-guided aspiration of hypoechoic mass in left breast as a galactocele is in the differential diagnosis.
Biopsy: June 8th.
Initial aspiration was unsuccessful and biopsy was performed.
I was expecting milk to be aspirated. Instead the mass is solid. Not a galactocele. I should have results by Wednesday. But, this waiting is awful! Any input?
Thank you, Angela!

Libra, I don't have any input, but know that waiting and worrying is awful. 70-80% of biopsies are b9, so the odds are in your favor. Many things happen in breasts that aren't cancer. Do try not to worry too much while you wait. Focus on building happy memories with your beautiful daughter! ((hugs))

Thank you, MTwoman!!!

No news today. Really hoping to know something tomorrow. Has anyone here had the same findings?
-
Librapride, you could always call and ask if they've got your results. waiting is awful!
-
I picked up the pathology report from the hospital today. It shows a diagnosis of PASH. Glad it's B9! Still waiting on a call from the Dr's office.

Hoorah Librapride!

hi,
Happy to read of your B9 results. Wondering if you followed up with your Dx of PASH? I was just diagnosed last week and waiting to call the surgeon tomorrow.
-
Mommakat, thank you! My dr referred me to a breast surgeon. I see her next Monday.

Libra, I'm glad you don't need to wait too long. I couldn't get an appt until 8/10! I don't know if you're like me, but I've been reading constantly about PASH. Curious what they'll tell you.
I also just got a call from the radiologist again. A week after they gave me my B9 results. Now that dr wants me to go to a surgeon and have the whole area removed. She said she felt the biopsy results were discordant from what she saw in the images.
I never would have imagined there's so much gray area between results.
Good luck at the surgeon's visit!
