I did an hour of spot toning with Denise Austin this morning & plan on going to Zumba & Yoga tonight. The reason I am exercising so much today is that tomorrow I fly off for the ladies in my family's annual Girls Beach Vacation. This year it will be me, my sister, our SIL, my two adult nieces & a family friend. We are going to Myrtle Beach....fun, fun! I will do lots of walking on the beach, bobbing in the waves, etc. but you know we will be eating like crazy too. If I only gain a couple pounds, I will be happy! An added benefit of the trip is having lunch with Wonderland on the 20th before I head home.

I have been walking since January. I am not on a par with any of the ladies here; I don't walk several miles in a day, or do Zumba or Yoga, but I am trying to take care of myself. I walk a public pavilion in town. I don't know how large it is, but 18 'laps' will give me 1.5 miles. I started out only able to do 10 minutes at a time. I have worked up to 25 minutes (18 'laps') before my hip starts to yell at me.Then I pulled/tore/did something to the plantar fascia ligament in my right foot and couldn't walk for a month. Anyway, I had a tiny personal best this morning. I was able to walk the pavilion for 30 minutes (20 'laps') and do 8 minutes of stretches afterward. Managed to get my heart rate up, too. Baby steps.

Nats, Congratulations on doing it, finishing, coming in 4th in your age group. Remember, you're way way ahead of all the people who sat on their couches and then drove in their cars to Old Navy and back home again (that's what I did).

Personal bests are the only ones that matter, Velvet.

After surgery, getting off your couch and doing ANYTHING counts, Falconer.

Congratulations on your run, Mary. I could only run race if a couple of your bears were chasing me!

Only exercise I did today was laundry. Too hot to really do much

    ~M0mmy~

I count laundry as exercise, too. I've found lugging baskets overflowing with laundry either to the utility room for washing or taking them back to the bedroom for folding is very good for the arms and legs, not to mention balance. I only do it for two of us but spring thru fall are hot here and the humidity can be brutal. I have a lot of laundry because we change twice a day. I shower and change after my AM walk and my husband showers and changes after he has finished his yard work. We try to coordinate the outdoor activities if we are working together so we aren't showering twice a day! So, there is always tons of laundry! I have wanted to hang out, but we have been getting rain, so I use the dryer. I try to do a load of clothes every day and occasionally will do what I call a mega-wash;when I gather everything and wash one or two really big loads;usually before we take a trip somewhere.

Velvet, I have to carry mine down to the living room to sort and then to the basement. After it's done it's either taken outside or up to drying racks. I use the clothesline during warm weather and the racks during rainy and cold weather. It's only two of us but it's worth the workout I get.

    ~M0mmy~

I grew up in a two - story house. Laundry was brought downstairs to the dining room to be sorted, then down to the basement for washing. Summer & early fall we could go outside through the basement to the lines; late fall, winter & spring the clothes were hung on lines in the basement. Sometimes they froze.

When my husband & I married, we lived in a two - story townhouse. I had to bring the clothes downstairs (I sorted upstairs in the hall) and out to a closet on our tiny back patio, that housed the washer & dryer. No line for drying. Then we moved far out into the country, closer to where my husband worked. We lived in a mobile home on a cattle ranch. The washer/dryer were in the house, but I had to carry the wet laundry through the trailer, out the front door, a long walk to the gate and the the length of the mobile home to the lines. I could do it until I got pregnant, then my husband bought me a red wagon to pull the laundry to and from the lines. After that, I used the wagon, pregnant or not!

When we finally were able to build our home, I knew I wanted single story and a laundry room as close to my lines as possible. I have a rolling hamper in our bathroom and when it gets full, I pull it to the utility room where I have a four - hamper set to sort into. When a hamper fills, I wash. The lines are just 10-20 feet from the utility room door. When I was a stay-at-home mom, I hung out almost every day. Once I went back to work, I didn't have time to hang out and relied on the dryer. Now I am hoping to get back to outdoor drying. I miss that fresh-air smell.

VelvetP, thats the way to do it. Work on your fitness level not anyone elses. After chemo I coulnt walk around the block or up a flight if stairs but slowly you get better and better.

Congrat,Maty, on your medal. You are way above most people in your age bracket to even run a race.

Still hot here too. Went for a two hour bike ride yesterday in 93 degree heat but honestly a shady trail and the breeze helped enough to make it bearable. This evening I had to mow the back yard-30 minutes.

    Nats: Congratulations on your 4th!

Falconer: Been thinking about you and hope all is well.

Walked/ran last night. Today I cleaned out the garage. Next areas will be the basement and shop area. Speaking of laundry, I also have to walk into the basement to the washer/dryer. And yes, it can be a workout.

My daughter is back for a week! Made DH leave early so we would be there on time! Of course we were early 😀 I just couldn't wait to hug her it's over 5 months since I saw her except in all her photos she posts on fb...but a big squishy hug is the best

Even with the heat I'm getting my steps in.

Well I'm fading at the keyboard. Sweet dream

Congratulations Mary on your race. VelvetPoppy you are doing great, keep it up. Pat have fun with Wonderland, lucky you. Enjoy the time with your daughter Karen.

I've been pretty good on the exercise front, did Body Combat on Saturday, and Body Pump Sunday - oh my I haven't done weights in a couple,of weeks and my body is letting me know that I mustn't do that - ouch, tonight did 30 minutes of Cardio Dance Party at one gym then off to another to do Body Flow with the birthday girl instructor (I took her flowers on Saturday to Combat and cookies tonight) LB she has made it into the trainer program for Flow, she will be going to Philadelphia for summit and there are going to be "secret" presenters, we've figured it out that one of them is Diana.

Cheryl, I had Tori Willard, international presenter for BB #77 QW2, both Sat & Sun this past weekend. They have now over 100 UK trainers either in progress or training. The Euro Summit was in Spain week before last and Diana was there as well - debuting barre with Erin Maw. LM is looking forward to 2020 - keep evolving and growing, yet recently lowered the bar over here, as you no longer need either a Gym Level 2 or ETM to take an instructors module, like you did when I went through - kerching! Nice of you to take flowers for your birthday girl instructor and she must be talented to get onto the trainers programme. Falconer, your walking distance is commendable and letting recovery be #1 is right on... back on the beam with yoga, etc..soon; don't lose heart. Ruth & Wonderland, good to read of your upcoming lunch together. Mary, well done and your running has always inspired me. Karen, nice to read your daughter is home.

Just did my nails and have emails to write before Pilates class at 1pm. Also trying to figure out dinner, something...thinking casserole as DH comes in after 9pm from working in Stockholm and will hungry. Got a load of wash in downstairs and shifting that to the dryer as well-multitasking. Happy Tuesday everyone!

    Edited to add:

Five years ago today was wheeled in for surgery for left breast mastectomy & diep reconstruction. Departing words to DH; .."this really isn't a dream is it?image

I don't know what I would do without my clotheslines in summer. Before we bought our house we lived in a condo and we had to use drying racks for all the laundry. The only exception to this was hubby's uniforms before he retired from the Navy. Those went up on clothes hangers right from the washer and were hung to dry in the tub.

Going to do a workout in a bit before it gets too hot to do so.

Have a wonderful vacation Ruth - nothing like a beach vacation.

Happy Cancerversary Lilac! You look amazing and you and yours have been through so much together.

No walk yesterday, but spent the day starting to get our trailer ready for camping next week (Assateague and the wild ponies). Somehow this year we had carpenter ants in the trailer, DH put ant poison down, so I spent the day vacuuming ants, then washing down all surfaces to get rid of the poison. It was unbearably hot yesterday, but weatherman promises a break late this afternoon. Oh and I caught up with all the laundry from last week away. I too cart laundry from 2nd floor to basement and back. For years I used to complain about it, but now I look at it as exercise! Meals on Wheels delivery later today, and more trailer work.

No walk today; grocery shopping. Husband likes to be at the store no later than 8:30am. He shops (has been doing the shopping & cooking since he retired three years ago), I push the cart. We usually shop on Thursday, but we are leaving on our trip to the Hill Country in the morning. Our son will be here at the house and husband is worried he may get hungry! The man is independent, he doesn't need us anymore (more like the reverse), but my husband still sees him as a little boy.

I am looking forward to some alone time with H. We are planning on stopping to see his younger brother's widow in Austin and her son & grandson, then on to Kyle to see a former manager/friend of mine. Once we get to Fredericksburg, it'll be good German food and Hill Country wine!

Lilac, congrats on the 5 year mark! I'm wondering if you feel that you're in better shape than ever- you look it!

Ruth and Wonderland- so nice to hear of your get together in NC.

Karen- it's always sweet to hear how much you love your daughter!!!!!

Velvet and Mommy- laundry!! Since the DIEP I haven't even gone down in the basement where the washer is. I remembered that I wore a pair of white pants Memorial Day weekend; haven't seen them again. The DH is reluctant to wash my clothes since over the years he's shrunk a couple things and, welllll. So those white pants might be moldering away down there.

Since I'm not working I was able to go on the little ones field trip to the local farm to pick strawberries. That's the two of us on the tractor :)

Falconer, love the field trip photo and your little sweetie, what a doll! Yes to being in good shape yet I miss running and stopped a few years back when training for body balance, to loosen hamstrings and have not gone back. I remember reading once, you can work on your body or your head, but ya can't do both. So, a 61 year old head, sits on my body, LOL, crows feet, wrinkles et al (don't do botox, have tried it, but nope), and have lived long enough to know, no matter what you do, it ain't gonna last. But hey, it's now and good to see you enjoying these special moments with your little one, so soon after surgery no less. I think you are incredible, I really do. Pat, thank you and yeah, we all have been through a lot, haven't we? Hard to keep up with you doing so much. Scottie, you are packing on the miles and Atlanta must be steamy hot. Velvet, have a wonderful trip with DH and I've never been to Austin and have that on my bucket list - along with Nashville. This is my 3 class day, 3pm pilates at the spa, then later to Folkestone for 7pm body balance and right after, Pilates till 9. Need to go knock out 2 lesson plans and hoping to get to tai chi this morning.

    Happy hump day everyone!

Lilac, big hugs on 5 down. We could exchange body parts. Would love to be able to do all the things you do. I did try Qi Gong this weekend and found it very worthwile. My gym got bought out by another gym and now it looks like they will scrap all or some LM stuff. §*$%&/

Falconer, looks like so much fun.

Congrats, Mary. I bought new running shoes but still have to use them for running. I will think of you when I lace them on next time.

Grrr - still have carpenter ants in the trailer. I will not be happy next week if I find one of them crawling on me in bed! DH put down more poison in out of the way corners. Just swept out the trailer and had a couple of dozen dead or mostly dead ants. When I googled it I saw horror stories about ants in trailers, too much knowledge is not always a good thing.

The hot humid weather has finally gone away and it is a delightful morning here. Off to have lunch with a friend today and then dinner with another friend. Also planning our trip to Scotland in August, where we will catch up with our son who lives in London for a long weekend. Any must do Scotland things to add to our list? Flying in and out of Edinburgh but we are renting a car.

Falconer what a lovely picture of you and your girl, very special. LB you are amazing and you look fantastic - I have to say I've slacked on doing Flow and my gosh after monday night my adductor muscles are soooooo sore, I think it was the sumo squat transferring weight with our imaginery ball, I need to add it back into my rotation. Heidi grrrrrr on losing LM, have they introduced "On Demand" over there yet? it is fantastic, I'm using it for Shbam and RPM and this morning they added a new LM Dance - which is actually a block from Jam so at 6.30 this morning I was dancing in my living room and it's not very expensive it's $12.99 a month for us and it has every format on it, they are about a year behind today's Jam was #78 and I think we're up to #82. Pat my goddaughter in in Scotland right now, she just posted on FB that the Harry Potter tour was a 10/10, I've been there too and I think Edinburgh Castle is a must see, don't know if you're travelling around but Sterling and Inverness are great places to visit.

Last night did Grit Strength and CX Works.

Tonight did parking lot U Jam class, a new gym being built must say it felt weird to dance on the asphalt wearing sunglasses but was fun.

Cheryl, are you on 77 now, we don't release until July 8th and with Demand is 10 a month here. I hear ya on those squats and not sure in the US, but many BB instructors teach it as said before in village halls, yoga barns, etc.. off piste. Found online a presenter who does that. HeidiHill, LM is expensive for a gym to have and over here, you now have to have to buy minimum of 3 programs to get a license and of course that includes perhaps buying the LM weights, bands, steps, etc. They will never allow us to pitch-up and teach as we like, except for those I spoke of above, who do so and perhaps don't care that they would be caught? Does it matter anymore to a global company - LM, that is raking it in, especially with Demand (everyone I know who has it loves it)? I enjoy teaching Pilates, unfettered by paying for music and choreography (spending hours learning it too) and like creating different weekly lesson plans and free to set up in my village hall or any studio. Falconer, you are doing so well with recovery and walking upright so soon, well done! Thank you for sharing the link, beautiful! Pat, Scotland in August - terrific time and can catch the fringe. Where in London does your son live?

The awful tower fire in London, at 6pm this morning and still burning, but the community spirit and compassion of EVERYBODY involved has been humbling. It is so very, deeply sad, the stories, loss yet, charity workers and volunteers providing aid for those affected by the fire said that they were coordinating with each other really well. The English spirit once again, prevails.

Oh, I love this thread! Unfortunately, the only exercise I got today was huffing and puffing 4 blocks to get from the parking garage to my PS's office. Something's better than nothing, but I sorely miss my Zumba classes. The music and energy of the class would be a perfect outlet for all these dark thoughts about cancer treatment... but right now, I'd have to call it quits after warm-up. One day... I will be shakin' it again. Although I think it'll take me longer to work in the chest shimmies. ;)
