Illness and edema? Any connection?

HI I have had axillary web syndrome that has persisted since surgery along with thankfully mild pockets of lymphedema in trunk and elbow.

I can usually pinpoint the swelling or "piano cord" symptoms to overuse of arm (ie, lifting, pulling, or even reading or holding phone too long).

Has anyone noticed increase of symptoms or flare with seemingly unrelated illness, such as upper respiratory infection or viral infection?

Sometimes, I ask myself... OK now what did I do to cause a flare... and cant come up with anything. The restriction can be quite painful and limits activity!
