    I was at an aquarium event last night talking with a marine biologist about the art of photographing fish and frogs. Today dh told me this creature was residing in our front fountain.

    Lovely purple flowers. My rhododendrons are hot pinks to reds. Purple would be really nice.

    We lived in a house one summer that had belonged to the caretaker for a plant nursery. There was a purple rhodie under the window that bloomed all summer. Gorgeous.

    They are the WA state flower. They come in every shade of pink, red, and purple. I can't remember if there's a pale yellow.

    Love all the flower pics and the flowering trees. The frog is pretty cool too.

    Joanne, love your flowers in your yard. At my mom's the irises are in bloom but in the neighbors yard.

    Not much time to take pics while looking after my mom. Every time I think I will have some time either the weather is not cooperating or I have too many errands to run. I have only been out a couple of times and the windy weather wasn't very helpful.

    I have not heard of a jacaranda tree. Those are beautiful.

    Lisa. . .beautiful pictures of those trees against the water. I don't think we have anything like that here. I will have to research that tree.

    Hope everyone is well. I am finally feeling much better after this last surgery. Now to spend the summer getting back in shape and back to my photography.

    Looking at the size of the duck broods, it's a wonder they're not everywhere. Something must thin them out. Here that would be coyotes probably.

    Wren. . .this momma duck usually has at least 10 or more, and this year we only saw six. It looks like they are all female as well. That seems surprising. We do have coyotes, raccoons and foxes in the woods around our lake.

    Scottiemom, I looked it up online and there are so many varieties... A friend gave me a start just over 7 years ago and it blossomed then, but not since this past month.. it's called a Wax Plant too

    I have been out of range for me..I fell in New Hampshire and broke both ankles. I had to have surgery and then rehab in Vermont until I was in good enough shape to travel back to San Diego and continue home health care here.. I am still no weight bearing on either foot so I have to use a slide board to transfer to various seats and beds..We had to buy a wheelchair in New Hampshire and then buy 4 seats on the plane from Boston to San Diego so I could put my feet up. I also have to do the Lovenox shots for an anti blood clot. I just had my casts taken off Monday and have no weight bearing boots and have the wheelchair of course. We had to get a smaller wheelchair so I could get into the bedroom and bathroom here and a portable commode...what a journey...but I am finally home and somewhat able to get around the house. My husband has been learning the ropes on cooking etc.

    Wow Lisa. You have had quite a journey indeed. I wondered what happened to you. I am assuming that picture is all the hardware in your left foot. Having this happen across the country makes it even worse. I sure hope you are over the worst of it. My Dad many years ago broke both of his ankles in a really awful car accident and it was not easy with the wheelchair. Hoping you will heal with no complications.

    I had a cyst removed from my back and had complications with it. This thing drug on for four months and just recently got back to my normal routine. My situation was a long drawn out affair but nothing like you have been through.

    Hang in there and hoping you will be able to get out with your camera in the near future.

    Lisa, What a nightmare! So sorry you're hurt and immobile (except for swinging to and from bed and wheelchair). Glad you could finally come home. My cousin broke her ankle in Australia and to buy half the plane to get home. Not an expense either one of you anticipated. Hope you mend very soon.

    Lisa. . .so sorry to hear about your injury. Glad you are home safe and healing. Prayers for you and your husband.

    I have had little time for photography this summer. Working too hard but looking forward to the Eclipse in two weeks. We will be just outside of the path of totality so 97-98%. I have had a hotel reserved for months in the totality area but we have decided to save the money and not travel. We have a fantastic science museum less than an hour away. They will have lots of telescopes etc set up, a planetarium show specific to the eclipse and NASA will be streaming live from there. We will spend the day there with cameras in hand.
