Arimidex and bisphosphonates?

ET - I have been on Prolia since Feb of 2012 - no issues and my density has been restored to "normal" as of the 4th injection. I have the highest recovery percentage my MO has seen so far - he is very happy.
-
Those are awesome results, Special K. Hope Prolia works for me as well!
-
Elaine T - great news!
-
SpecialK - Not to the stage where needing Prolia, yet, but very happy to hear of the positive outcome you have had. That is wonderful!
-
celia - thanks! I am definitely a Prolia cheerleader for sure, lol! I bumped into my MO's PA the other day and she commented about the percentage gain while we were in the hallway, I was at the office for another reason that was unrelated. I thought it was funny that she even knew, or remembered, since she was not there with my MO when we discussed it several months ago!

specialK I'm glad to see your post. I forgot to ask my oncologist to run a base line with starting ameridex. I do know 7 years ago after I year of femera there was some bone loss.
-
hi bugs, ive missed you!!! Thought id come back and see how yall are doing. I made my 5 years 9/24/17 with mets. Been ned for over 4 years. I hope you are well also your 5 love bugs!!!

News here. Went for my 6 month check up today, and second Prolia shot, and my MO has put a halt on Prolia for her patients. Not even published yet, a study is finding (whether it prevents bone mets or not), after patients go off Prolia, their bones (what is the word? degrade, become less dense?) lose density rapidly, faster than if they had never started Prolia. She mentioned something about using Zometa, but I was thinking of so many other things, didn't take note, except that it is acceptable...maybe she was thinking for bone loss (which I don't have and that's why I tuned out).
-
Quinn,I asked my MO about that a few months ago. I’d read it some place. He agreed, and also agreed it doesn’t play nice if chemo becomes necessary again.
-
Spookiesmom - Prolia doesn't play nice if one needs chemo again? She didn't mention this.

I wish I could remember where I saw that. Mayo? But yes. I’m supposed to take that bone pill. I won’t. So the Prolia was brought up. That’s when I went looking around. Asked MO about it, he said yes it was true.
And I’ve also seen that while these drugs do build bone, it’s not “good” bone. It’s more brittle, easier to break. That’s just not a good enough reason to take it IMO.
So I do 1200 mg calcium and 5000 D3 daily hope for the best. Can’t do vitK
