I was starting with Doxil today but within seconds of Doxil hitting body (and yes it was that fast) full anaphylactic reaction, so we obviously cant do it. Moving on to Taxol every 3 weeks, wondering how others are handling it, and when they lost their hair?  I have read some of weekly Taxol but most seem to be weekly (obviously)...we have a crazy household with many health problems, sure that is why he put me on every 3 weeks, so I have a few bad days and better after..
Thanks for suggestions...

On a good note my blood pressure is back to normal after 5 months off Everlamous

Glad you started this thread! I was looking around for more info or experiences from people doing Taxol every three weeks. I will start this next week. I have been doing the weekly taxol (I did five, with a two week break in between because I got pneumonia). One of my main concerns is managing the white blood cells and my doctor and I discussed neulasta. Looking forward to comparing notes and hopefully getting some info from people with experience. Best of luck to you Keetmom!

Keetmom, OK, you have to tell me how it went this morning and how you are feeling? What pre-meds did you do and how long were you there? I hope you are feeling OK and tolerating any side effects. I will be starting on Thursday. This week I'm trying to think of ways to prepare to be strong and healthy to manage the treatment. Wishing you well! Take care!

Happy almost Birthday Keetmom! I hope you are feeling good and able to enjoy Billy this weekend! I had my 3 hour taxol on Thursday. Pre-meds were the same as my one hour taxol: Kytrel, Pepcid, Decadron, and Benadryl. I didn't notice much of a difference with the 3 hour infusion. I will be monitoring any side effects and symptoms for the next week. I did get the On-Pro Neulasta. It's on my arm right now and will administer the medication 27 hours after my chemo was finished. I'm feeling OK right now so we'll see how things go after the pre-meds wear out. Have a good weekend and have a great birthday!

So far I like the every three week schedule versus the three weeks on, one week off. It let's me enjoy the second and third week having more energy before having to go back. This dose seems to be pretty hard on my red blood cells and I've been more anemic with this dose. I have been doing the Procrit injections, but even weekly it hasn't boosted the red blood cells. I almost was going to have a blood transfusion this week, but the pharmacists want to monitor for another week or two to see about increasing the dose of Procrit or deciding to do the blood transfusion (and they will discuss with my doctor when he comes back from vacation). I've been on Neulasta and the bad part is the bone pain I get from the medication stimulating those white blood cells. No fun! But the good things is that it's keeping those white blood cells in a good range. I'm getting the neuropathy in my fingers and toes and today was given a prescription for gabapentin. I've also been experiencing tingling in my chin/ lower lip which I think might be neuropathy, which is pretty uncommon. I have an MRI scheduled to check it out. So that's my experience so far with the Taxol every three weeks. I'm hoping for good results when I do my next PET scan (probably next month). And I am considering my options of going back to work... a hard decision to make!
