Starting Radiation in May 2017

Thank you Celia! I think that I will ask for a prescription tomorrow! Tomorrow I am half way!!
-
Peetie - I got a hydrocortisone prescription cream when my skin started to get more red and itchy. Then when my nipple started to crack the RO prescribed flamazine which is an antibiotic ointment (silver sulfadiazine?) as it can be used on broken skin when the other creams can't.
-
I'm at the halfway point! Had 10th of 20 treatments today.
Still not much SEs,which is good. Notice the nipple is still inverting, and the areola looks a bit puffy and bigger than the left one. Other than that, I'm happy that I have nothing else to report. :-)
-
#10 today, my chest feels like a sunburn. I just noticed it is a little red and itcy.
-
Congratulations on being halfway done, Nancy! I had #11 out of 33 yesterday, so I'm a third done. Leaving soon to drive down the mountain for #12. Other than being a little sore and a tad pink, I'm doing fine. The exhaustion is another matter! Just had a wee nap.

I am celebrating with you Nancy! I am also half way 10/20!
-
Peetie: YAYYYYY! I hope you're doing as well as I am.
MJ: I think the exhaustion has set in for me. I am sleeping better, waking up multiple times but going back to sleep Getting around 6.5 hours up from 4-5, but it's because I'm taking a full 50mg hydroxizine tablet I think. But I'm groggy all morning, and then the rest of the day feel like I have absolutely no energy. Going to go back to half of a tablet tonight and see what happens.
-
I had #20 out of 30! I am so tired. Can't wait to sleep this weekend!!
-
Thursday is RO day. When I told her my breast has gotten sore, she gave me samples of Regenecare HA which has lidocaine in it. Has anyone used this? She said if it helps, she'll write me a prescription for it.
As to my fatigue, she told me to take naps and said she'll write me a note if I need one! The fatigue really is the worst of it right now. I feel so lethargic and listless - not my normal self at all. The RO was glad to hear I'm still going to my fitness classes.

Hanging_in_there - make sure to include enough protein in your diet. It is very important to help your body stay strong and support healing. If you're going vegetarian then be sure to include beans in your diet. If you're still having some meat, try to incorporate some fish for protein. You could also consider having protein drinks for extra calories and nutrition. Your doctor is probably concerned because you have lost quite a bit of weight. Anyway, I'm certainly not a nutritionist but am just sharing information from my RO. I was also told to make sure and have 7 to 9 servings of fruits and vegetables per day.
-
13 down, 23 to go. Skin looking good, no fatigue. Enjoy your weekend.
-
Hanging in there: As ILSunrise says - Protein in your diet is important for the healing process. There are a lot of high protein vegan/vegetarian alternatives out there. DD is vegan, I am not, but we both really like Ripple Non-Dairy Milk, made with pea protein, 8g protein per serving and also has VitD, Omega 3s & Calcium. Also, some great vegan pastas that are very high protein. I tried one made with red lentils/peas that had 16g protein per serving. Since lumpectomy, have lost almost 30 lbs, but am eating much healthier, including plant sourced protein, fruits and veg. Both PCP and MO pleased with my "new" dietary habits and nutritionist I had a consult with indicated I was on the right track, also.
-
Those still undergoing rads - Gotta love the 2 day break the weekend brings! Rest up, and be kind yourselves. Healing thoughts and gentle hugs.
-
I agree, Celia. I haven't even had my treatment yet today and I'm already looking forward to the break! Have a great weekend.

12 down, 8 to go!
I am exhausted...and I didn't go to Zumba yesterday more because I bent down Wednesday and twinged my back. I was going to walk after rads today, but it was too hot and I felt too exhausted. I HAVE to do some walking this weekend.
Has anyone had any issue with reflux or stomach pain high near the brestbone? I don't think I ate anything out of the ordinary and I'm not particularly stressed, but I was VERY uncomfortable late yesterday and through the night. Better today, but I'm taking Pepcid twice a day now until I'm sure it's ok.
Have a great weekend!
-
Nancy618, I noticed some heartburn lately too. Wasn't sure if it was just stress or maybe some rads hitting stomach. Also my lower ribs on left side get achey every once in a while. Was going to talk to RO on Tuesday
-
Finished up 30/30 rads on Weds. I hate the way my skin looks and feels. I look like I was roasted. My skin has turned very dark brown and wrinklyand feels super dry and chalky. I hope it doesn't stay this way.
-
Lohoff,
Congratulations on finishing up radiation!!!
Nancy, I have had some strange digestive issues. Feel free to PM me if you went details.
Peetie
-
It's good to know others are having digestive issues...well, it's not GOOD, but I'm not alone. I'm much better today. I'm still going to talk to my RO on Monday.
Tonight I'm having some burning and the area than I got tan in Florida in February is red. Odd. My white skin is just fine
-
All of this is great information! Thanks, Ladies.
-
Nancy618 I don't want to alarm you, but an inverted nipple is a sign of inflammatory breast cancer. I know because that is how mine started, but was not caught until later. My SO is the one that made the diagnosis.
I just finished my rads June 1st. Congratulation to all that have finished. For those that haven't hang in there it will be over soon!
-
Happy Monday, # 14 for me today. Good luck ladies who are still in Radiation.
-
Ladies who are done with rads - Congrats!
Ladies still having rads - You can do this!
All - Healing and uplifting thought and gentle hugs to you.
-
Week #4 - #15 today. I'll be halfway done this week! Whoo-hoo! We've got this, ladies!
MJ
-
Welcome SmileeGirl, and glad you found us, and are sharing your experiences.
Go, wonderful women on this thread!! We're routing for you All!
-
lohoff - I'm 2 weeks out from 29 treatments and my skin is almost back to normal, just a little pink where the boosts were. It was really bad last week as you described. keep applying cream as per your RO. It will get better.
-
@bravepoint that is such good news. I noticed that over the weekend some of the dark skin is coming off.
-
22 is done! Just 3 more regular and then 5 boosts! Skin still looking good. Keep slathering your moisturizers on!
-
Hello,
I'll be starting my rads end of June once I finalize my treatment plan and simulation.
Did anyone radiate the supraclavicular area because of LVI?
I had BMX with clear margins, SNB negative. So initial plan was to only radiate chest wall - but given my LVI, rad doc said it's up to me if I want to radiate the supraclavicular area . I haven't been able to find much information on this and was wondering if anyone had similar experience/diagnosis and wouldn't mind to share.
Thank you.
Mina. -
DONE! My last radiation was today! I intend to sleep in tomorrow as I am not a morning person and this getting up early is for the birds. I have had my youngest son, his wife and 2 kids.....2 1/2 and 4 1/2 who went home today after a week here. My house is a disaster but it's going to have to wait until I wake up tomorrow. Tonight we are going out for a celebration dinner
