has anyone experienced this .  I am 3 years post bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction , and I am feeling a small "bead like" bump at the end of my scar on the side that was cancer free.

I had a suture granuloma (also sometimes called "spitting a stitch").   It quickly worked its way to the surface leaving a tiny hole that in my case healed without issue.

I have one of those and they think it is fat necrosis.

I had that....I don't know if you are on the picture forum or not, but if you are, you can kind of see it as a red spot on my scar.  I didn't take any close-ups of it.  My BS told me she thought it was a suture, and I kept meaning to mention it to the PS, but forgot.  I had my exchange surgery a couple of days ago (5 months after BMX).  I haven't looked super closely at my new scars, but I'm assuming it is gone.  It didn't give me any problems when it was there.  Hopefully, you won't, either!

PKB3937- I can't remember the time frame exactly but it was probably within a year of my DIEP.  I just googled this and came up with a (medical) journal article where a suture granuloma took 5 years to form- see link below.

This thread has not been active for awhile, but I have a small, round lump at the 3:00 mark on the same breast as my original tumor was. Not the same spot. I had a double mastsectomy. Anyway, I went to my breast surgeon a month ago and he did an ultrasound. He thought it was a stitch granuloma, but will check in 3 months (now two) to see if there are any changes. If so, a biopsy. Oh, my gosh! I am worried.

Anyone out there who knows more about this, or has had this experience?

hjjman - same for me, same time period - this was a 3cm mass, found on PET scan last year, right at my original tumor site from 2010. It was a suture granuloma, along with metaplasia, and other inflammatory process. It was cleaned out in an already scheduled surgery (implant downsize) and the pathology came back in about 4-5 days. Hoping for the same for you! I know it is hard waiting.
