how many actual positive lymph did you have when compared to your preop diagnostic tests?

I had one so far when ultrasound and MRI showed none. Now I may have to go for alnd and am worried that there may be more?

MRI showed one w/cancer. Surgery discovered one w/cancer.

minus two well that was accurate. I am hoping there are no more in there as well. Initially showed none now a 4.5 mm node so I am afraid how many more likely?

Not to scare you but I didn't have any show up on MRI...after surgery 11 positive. Most of the time they are pretty accurate though.

I don't want to scare you either but despite my tumor being small and nothing showing on MRI surgical pathology revealed 7nodes with macromets.

MRI showed all clear.. Sentinal node biopsy had two of four with micro mestasis. I then pushed my surgeon to do axillary nodes so I would have 'peace of mind' and surprise surprise found 2 of 14 positive axillary nodes.

SNB- in the OR the initial pathology showed all clear then when sent out for close analysis 1 of 3 nodes had 7mm micromets. My BS did not want to take more nodes, and I was fine with that. I doubt the MRI showed anything since the 7mm didn't come back til later. My BS: your lymph nodes are doing their job.

MRI and US were clear prior to BMX. SNB (1 node) was declared clear in the OR during my initial surgery, but was found to have 20 IST (isolated tumor cells - not even a micromet in size) later in the lab during the more thorough exam and testing. Due to Her2+ status my BS and MO both strongly felt that I needed ALND, which was done 5 weeks later. Neither of these docs is reactionary, and my BS was one of the pioneers of SNB. The later surgery revealed a very large positive node.

Ultrasound and MRI were clear, but one positive node was found during sentinel node biopsy. They radiated the area for me.

MRI was accurate. Ultrasound had a hard time imaging the node but did find it after the MRI. Nothing showed on mammogram.

Ditto falconer. My MRI and ultrasound both showed clear nodes, and my BS reported 0/3 nodes during surgery, but later pathology showed 2mm micromets in one of the nodes on my left side. Since it was so small we're doing checkups every 3 months on the nodes rather than more surgery or radiation.

As a matter of fact, I just got back from an ultrasound on that breast. Found a hard lump and ny BS wanted it checked. Turns out it was just scar tissue drom my surgery. Whew!

Hope all works out for you, TPRALPH
