Neuropathy Starts Years After?

Options

Looking for anyone who may have experienced neuropathy years after finishing treatment. I am days away from my 5 year anniversary and started to get "pins and needles" in my affected side hand for no other reason such as diabetes, slept on the arm, or any of the myriad of ways it could be caused.

Seeing the onco in a few weeks, just wanted the real scoop from real people who may have experienced this. Thank you....

internutz - sorry I don't have an answer, but how frustrating for you. My neuropathy started with Taxotere #4. Do you have any other risk factors? Maybe you could schedule an appointment with a neurologist. Mine was most informative.

Internutz, I started experiencing neuropathy 2 years out of treatment, My symptoms began in my left hand and fingers... numbness, tingling and an itch that can't be scratched, (which my Oncologist doesn't understand, sent to a neurologist, negative findings for nerve damage) the itching is horrendous!! it slowly moved up my forearm, it's been about a year since this all began with no relief!! Currently, the itching has moved to my right arm. I'm not experiencing numbness or tingling just the itching. I'm beginning to think this might be caused from meno, any thoughts? I'm going crazy!

internutz, I am having similar symptoms, but did not have chemo. Could it be lymphedema? I am going to a physical therapist when they call me with an available appt. Have you seen your onco yet

internutz1, I have similar symptoms and have an appt. with a physical therapist in a couple of days to see if it might be lymphedema, even though I only had 2 lymph nodes removed. Have you seen your onco yet?

After doing some research, neuropathy can be caused by Arimidex. I didn't have chemo so thought I would avoid this side effect, but evidently not. Are you taking an AI, internutz1

I am curious about this too. I finished my last chemo back in mid-November and in the past week am starting to have pins and needles feelings in my arms and upper back. Wondering if it can be delayed neuropathy, I was on Taxol and I know that does cause neuropathy. I had numbness in my hands and feet at the time which went away. I'm hoping this is not the start of some permanent problem because I am finally feeling better the last few months and am ready to move on!

I finished my chemo august 2016 (ACT). Also had partial mastectomy with lymph node removal and 25 rads. I still have neuropathy in both legs and my left arm/hand. Have tried gabapetein but didn't like the SE from that so I just deal with it every day. It's never kept me from doing anything and I keep active: swimming, walking and yoga.

I am still experiencing numbness under my arm where they removed ONE lymph node. Have never felt better since I had cancer in 2014. Still feel like crap pretty much 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

In my experience, yes neuropathy can start some months after treatment. Did for me, just an aggravating thing, for me, not life altering!😉
