Here I am, proud as an Himalayan Monk!
Well, guess will save on shampoo money for a while ha ha!
Would prefer no scarf or wig, yet DS did'nt accept it. BTw the marble (Ebru) artwork is among the last from Mustafa Duzgunman, the master.

Me too!

You both look beautiful! Think how fast you can get ready in the morning by not having to mess with your hair!
-
You are both gorgeous! I think I'll be joining the club very soon.
-
This is me just 3 weeks ago. Bald and proud. Well, maybe not proud at the time. More like, rather shy about it all. But I faced the world anyway. And today, I'm proud of myself for it.
-
stunning!
-
yes! Yes! Yes! Not easy, but adjustable..
my third time baldness.. got a say this, gets easier each time.
Hugs all
Ebru

Thank you guys. You look great. Makes me not so worried about the whole business of losing my hair, when that comes. The wig options sound like a bit of fun. I'd rather have my hair, but if not I'll probably go for a Cher in 1970 kind of look.

I would like to commend each of you lovely ladies that posted a pic. Y'all have more strength than I could only dream about. I don't have very good self esteem and with the loss of my hair, what little bit I have is gone. I also join you with being bald but I don't have the guts to post a pic. You go girls. Enjoy the moment, with or without hair.
-
I was a little shy the first time I stepped out but I decided to rock it and the response has been pretty positive, although I have been called "sir" twice, lol
-
Right there with you Ebru!
*susan*
p.s. but now it is growing back a bit and I look like a duckling!
-
You all look fabulous! I haven't lost my hair, yet. and started chemo April 13th and I was honestly was just telling my husband that I view the bald head look as a medal of a warrior. I think the world needs to see beautiful bald heads of amazing woman fighting a hard fight. I planned on going bald, ordered some cute hats to protect my head from the elements and my 10 year old girl has washable markers to decorate my head, but otherwise I was going to be proud. My chemo dose was upped 2 weeks ago and the shedding is getting bad, so I am prepared for it getting worse after my dose this week, but we shall see. Either way, I am ready and will be proud if my head goes bald.
-
I admire you all lovely ladies! Like Kandy I don't know if would have the guts to show a pic of myself. I had my first weekly Taxol on 15 May and finished 3 infusions last week. Nurses told me I would lose my hair after the second or third week but it's not falling out, not that I'm complaining! What is your experience with Taxol? I bought some nice scarves and chemo hats, I'm ready! I regret so much not having colored my roots (vanity) because I thought I'd have no hair left by now. And it's now out of the question because I'm having rads to cervical 1 and higher up on the scalp.
-
Linda, I didn't begin to loose my hair on Taxol until about the fifth infusion, which makes no sense. I had some expanding bald spots so shaved, and darn if it stopped falling out! This is nothing like A/C which I did the first time around. I do miss my nose hairs and have to carry tissue everywhere. Good luck!

Linda, I am on weekly Taxol and will be going in for my 7th dose on Friday. I too still have hair, but it started shedding after my 2nd increased dose (which was dose #6) of Taxol last week, so we shall see what the dose on Friday will do.
My MO stated she wished all her patients did as well as I am as my side effects have been pretty low, with fatigue and body aches being the biggest issues. I am eating very clean and have 3 veggie smoothies a day and take vitamins as well as "try" to exercise when I can. When I am feeling too fatigued to exercise, I walk about 2.5 miles.I wish you the very best.
-
Thank you Susan and Helen. I read in the Taxol prescribing info that a mere 13% of patients will not lose their hair. Could we be amongst that 13%? Wishful thinking maybe but time will tell.
Helen - I anticipated much worse SEs with Taxol but really apart from fatigue and some nausea, I'm doing well.
Wishing us all chemo gals the best, bald or not.
-
Linda,
Taxol scared the pants off of me, to be honest, but it has been far easier [for me] than either Ibrance or Xeloda. I have had no nausea, less fatigue. I am having trouble keeping on my weight [which is a problem?], and keeping my potassium and sodium levels high enough. I am having to adjust my diet and eating schedule to keep my numbers within range. I hate having a port and visiting the hospital so often, and I rather miss having hair, but, not anywhere near as horrid as I had feared.
Feel free to PM me if I can be helpful.

My 3 year old grandson said I looked like Mrs. Potato Head and proceeded to give my bald head lots of kisses.
Now on Ibrance/Letrozole. The first hairs to come back were on my chin..really? Cruel.
-
I love Mrs. Potato Head!
-
Linda,
I had three rounds of Taxol after I was first diagnosed but unfortunately did not respond to it. I did start to lose my hair after a couple of weeks but jumped the gun and had it shaved. I recalled my experience with CEF in 2001 when it came out in clumps. I had it shaved at that time as well with no issues. This time I had a lot of stubble which did not want to fall out causing some issues with infected follicles. The stubble never did go completely which makes me think it would not have fallen out completely.
Sandibeach, I also thought it was a cruel irony that when I switched to Arimidex and Ibrance the first hairs to come back were my whiskers! Those I did not miss. Hair slowly coming in but very patchy. I sort of have the old man bald pattern going with little on the top, more on the sides. Sigh...
-
Susan, It also scared the pants off of me to the point where I was debating if I should stop tx but when MO gave me the prognosis without Taxol, I quickly changed my mind and everything happened so fast. I could certainly lose a few pounds but that's not happening. Dex gets me so hungry, I can eat everything in sight! Especially when I have to take it every day like now because of rads. Anyway, I'm glad I accepted Taxol and consider it very doable, and surprisingly much more flexible and less joint pain than with AIs.
Sadie - Thanks for your input. It's interesting how we all react differently.
-
You gals are gorgeous.ย
Susan, so glad taxol is much better than expected. HelenFaith, 2.5 miles is excellent. Keep going. Sadiesservant and Sandibeach, my hair started growing on my cheeks after TAC chemo. Very strange it was. Illimae I still get called "sir" all the time. I may need to get a wig to put a stop to that.
-
Linda,
Ah the pre-meds. I don't get them anymore! Well, I get the Pepcid, but not the dec or benadryl. I was told that I could reduce and then eliminate them once we knew that I wasn't wildly allergic. The dec was omitted first; full stop. Then we reduced the benadryl over a three week span. Once those drugs were eliminated, I felt normal! And still do. I hate those two drugs. Maybe your oncologist will consider this as well? At my hospital, Dana Farber, all Taxol patients who have no signs of allergy are given the option. According to my oncology nurse, very few people take them up on it. I can't imagine why.

I get addressed as "Sir" a lot. I hate that! Does anyone have a good come back for it?
-
Beautiful women, with or without hair!
-
I have been rocking the bald look for the first time ever, in this last month. I'm not quite "proud" enough to share my photo yet, but am definitely inspired by you guys who were brave enough to post and share. I am still adjusting to the new look. I find it most amusing how much my bald head looks just like my dad's!
-
Susan - I had a mild rash on second infusion only, but if all continues to go well I may ask to stop Dex and Benadryl. They've already reduced the dosage of Dex in the pre-meds and it makes a difference!
Another question for all you pros at this: Can we dye our hair while having chemo?
-
I was called sir by a cashier at the grocery store recently by a guy (late teens/early twenties), I didn't have a great comeback but did laugh and say "I guess the lipstick and big tits didn't give it away, huh?". He apologized a lot, lol
-
illimae, that's so funny!
Oh well everyone, today I love washing my baldie in the sink now! Cuts so much time from the shower!
No taxol experience, but after 2 cycles of Taxotere, Halaven is on the horizon. Next week we'll sort the plan with MO, which too involves no hair..
New wig btw.
Hug

All of you inspire me! I wish I could like or cheer for each of your posts. As for the ladies being referred to as "Sir" I don't have a a great comeback, but for me it just confirms that some people just don't make direct contact with the person they are connecting with.
Stay beautiful ladies!

Stagefree, that is one sexy look with your new wig!
