Diagnostic Mammo and U/S today...
Hi everyone,
I've been lurking here a bit, and these forums have really helped ease my worries (thank you!) about a growing area of "expansion" in my right breast. A year ago I had rather symmetrical breasts. In the past few months I've noticed the right breast has become very puffy and tender, and has almost grown into my armpit. My GP sent me for a bilateral diagnostic mammogram, and possible ultrasound. I had the mammo and ultrasound today. I'm 38
I know I ought not to worry about things until there is truly something to be worried about, but I do find myself a bit unable to think about anything else this evening. The ultrasound tech was very thorough, and spent a long time moving up my breast from the area in question, up to my nipple. She seemed to take a lot of pictures around my nipple too. When she left me to go and see if the radiologist had everything he needed, I stole a glance at the screen, and though it was blank, there were at least 18 images of my breast down at the bottom. I have no idea what I'm looking at, so I wasn't even trying to interpret them. I just got the impression that there was something she was looking at.
And now I wait. The tech didn't drop any hints, and said I should follow up with my doctor in a week. I hope you all don't mind mind me sharing here. I don't want to worry my family unless there is a real concern.
Deep breaths and lots of Netflix?!
Best wishes to everyone.

Snufkin - not knowing is hard, waiting to know something- sometimes made me feel so much anxiety inside I thought I would faint. There is nothing I can say to you that you won't worry. I hope that everything turns out good. Doctors are usually pretty good about getting back to you. If you don't hear from your doctor- give them a call. Hoping Netflix keeps your mind busy. Let us know what the test results are. I pray that it will turn out that your worry was for nothing.

Mistyeyes, thank you for your quick and warm response! You are quite right, I should follow up in a few days if I haven't heard anything. It's amazing how powerful anxiety can be when we have to wait for answers. Many thanks for your support. I wish you all the best

@Sreeder I hope your tests went well today. How are you feeling?
I just had a call from my physician and there is nothing malignant in my report. I have a large cluster of cysts which we will plan treatment for. Whew. Thank you for your kind messages!
