New mets to spine, pelvis and thyroid

Hi all! In Oct 2013 (at the age of 28) I was diagnosed with Stage IV breast cancer with mets to my femur and lymph nodes. I had a bilateral mastectomy, oopherectomy, and was treated with chemo and radiation. I was in remission since my completion of chemo in 2014. Earlier this week I was experiencing back pain and this morning the pain became so severe that I went to the ER. After CT and MRI scans were performed it was determined there are new mets to multiple vertebrae in my spine, my pelvis and a lesion on my left thyroid. Since it is the weekend, I have not had an appointment with my oncologist yet but I am planning on calling my onco office as soon as they open on monday.

Can someone with spine or thyroid mets share a little info on their experience? What should I expect in terms of disease progression/symptoms? I assume I will be treated with radiation but what other treatments are used for spine mets and thyroid mets?

Thanks! :)

Mary, I just stumbled upon your post and while I have no info to share with you, I wanted to reach out and give a big hug. So sorry you are dealing with this. These boards can be quiet on the weekends, but I'm sure someone will come along soon that can offer some support. Bump this thread on Monday if you don't hear anything back. Big Hugs to you.

So sorry to hear about your progression, Mary. I have no experience to share, but was thinking that you also may want to copy this message to the Stage IV forums as they are a pretty active and well-informed group.

Bless you as you get back in the fight!

    Mary85,

So sorry for your back pain..So sorry to have to continue to deal with this..

But I too am in so much pain in my lower back. I've had a MRI months ago and they said it was just arthritis. But it is a consistent pain and sometimes I can't get up from my bed.. I'm calling my oncologist first thing this morning too. I'm tired of dealing with the after affects of fighting this:(..

Hi Angel! I totally agree--you shouldn't have to tolerate pain like that. They need to come up with a solution for you! I hope all goes well.
