Struggling to find summer clothing that doesn't accentuate how lopsided I am right now. I'm about 12 weeks out from my umx with DIEP reconstruction. I'm pretty uneven and light colored summer clothing just makes it more obvious. It's hot here in the summer and already too warm for the dark colors ive been wearing. I am not allowed to wear a supportive bra yet. Hoping to get the go ahead for that when I see the PS in a couple weeks, which might help. But in the meantime, suggestions or do I just have tosuck it up that this is how it will be?

    Hello,

I know what you mean! I have had a lumpectomy with reduction on one side and am waiting for the second breast reduction to even me out again, I still have to wait three months. I found that patterns actually distract from the lopsidedness. I am wearing many striped things, or loose cotton or linen blouses and shirts. So far I have not noticed anyone staring at my breasts, so it cannot be that noticeable!
Although my operated breast could tolerate a more supportive bra (the scars do not hurt at all) I can only wear soft bras that adjust to the breast size but do not give much support, because due the different breast sizes other bras tend to not stay in place well and squash my new one.

I'm flat but still prefer to camouflage. Patterns, gathered necklines, waterfall sweaters. Walmart sells tshirts with a gathered neckline that work well with shorts to skirts.

here's a link to some pix from the flat side that show how you can dress and it's really not that noticeable.

You can also use a knitted knocker on the flat side until you are finished with recon.

    Good luck!

I think you could wear the dark tops with light-colored everything else and have it look summery. Navy and white is a classic summer color scheme. Or how about a light tan denim skirt or linen trousers with a purple top? (And a straw hat.)

Very thin scarfs looped around neck to middle of chest helped me before reconstruction.

I skipped recon too and feel my best in prints and tops with ruffled neck line . . . anything to add some fluff up top. With summer I think prints are your best option.

    Good luck!
