My back hurts too!

Options

Hi Ladies, I was diagnosed on June 2015 and had double mastectomy then. My upper back started to hurts on the spine bilaterally 7 months ago and feels very weak. I also have this tingling feeling that comes and goes. I did some PT that was helpful for just 1-2 hours, finally My family doc told me to do Dry needling at PT. It seems this is more helpful but it is helping slowly. hope this helps!

Did the PT you saw give you exercises to do daily? I've had arthritis in my upper back since long before DX. I was also osteopenia for years before TX but since TX did go on to osteoporosis. I have recently been having more pain across my shoulders and upper back. When I saw my Ortho PA last week (for my small tear in rotator cuff) I asked him about the pain and he sent me straight to x-ray for new films (last were 3+ yr old) and to PT. The PT I saw worked with me giving me several 'exercises' to do a couple of times a day. Definitely helping. The x-rays showed more arthritis.

Don't know how young you might be or what your TXs were or ongoing. Have you had a recent DEXA test (bone density)? If not that might be a good idea to have one to check your density.

Unfortunately - not all 'family doctors' are knowledgeable about issues that can come on after BC DX and TX. You might want to talk to your MO.
