Invasive Lobular Carcinoma - Arm Pit ONLY

I have recently been diagnosed with Invasive Lobular Carcinoma in a cyst removed from my armpit. The doctors can not find breast cancer anywhere else. I have had mammogram, ultrasound, petscan (skull base-mid thigh) and MRI of the breast. Oncotype score is a 21. Looking for any person or information with similar results.

    Hi Oneofakind:

Here is a link to a thread for "Occult Primary with Lymph Node Metastases" where you can meet other members with a diagnosis of occult primary breast cancer:

    Hi Oneofakind:

I deleted my post (and link), because I realized you said the ILC was in a "cyst" (not in a lymph "node"). Breast tissue can extend above and below and next to the breast, so you can have a primary tumor in those areas. Have you had a lymph node biopsy (fine needle aspiration or sentinel node biopsy)?

ILC can be very illusive, it is why most call it sneaky. Is your cancer er and or pr postive? You may be able to treat with hormone therapy. What about her2 status?

Imaging is notoriously hit and miss with ILC, unfortunately. But it is possible that the cyst was all there was.

Just to chime in, the lump I found through that random breast self exam back in 2011 was under my armpit, and not really in the fatty part of my breast at all. I'm not sure I would have found it if I had been overweight; I could feel it just over my ribs, right under the skin.
