Anxious
I was diagnosed with DCIS and IDC on May 17, 2016. On May 18, 2017 after a lumpectomy, reconstruction, rads and now on Arimidex I reported for my mammo/tomosynthesis/US. I received a copy of the doctor's report yesterday. She is recommending a punch biopsy based on "the left breast has peau d'orange skin and a bruised appearance, coupled with diffuse skin thickening." Also noted in the area of the skin thickening is a 4mm intramammary lymph node. My skin thickening thickness in that area measures 4mm according to the report.
My appt with oncologist (set back in November when the tests were ordered) isn't until this Wednesday, May 24.
I'm trying to not be anxious but I'm failing miserably.
Has anyone here had another recurrence so soon? I can't seem to wrap my mind around this new development.

Hey Patti:
Hugs to you. I can only imagine how anxious you must feel. I hope you have lots of things to distract yourself with.
Remember, it may be nothing. I think its good your doctor is on top of any changes at all.
Let us know how it goes.

I think it WOULD be unusual to have a recurrence so soon. But, I'm glad to hear that your medical team is on top of it! Better to be safe than sorry. ((HUGS)) No one wants to recur, but better to find out now rather than later.

Thank you, I agree! I have the best medical team!

Hoping it is scar tissue and stretch marks. Mine has had that appearance at times. But your team is totally on top of this and doing exactly what they need to in order to know exactly what you're dealing with. Please keep us posted. Hoping it is benign

Patti I can also image the anxiety you have. I just finished chemo on the 15th of this month and 2 days later had my MRI and it showed something in the left breast now. I'm so anxiety ridden also and can't believe this is happening.
I wish you luck. Has anyone else showed something so soon with getting done with chemo??

Thank you, KBeee! Definitely not stretch marks, dimpling. I completely trust my medical team. I'll know more tomorrow. ☺

Oh my goodness, MonkeysMom! You will be in my thoughts! Please let us know how you're doing. Sending positive thoughts and big hugs.

I had (still have) a weird area that is thickened and looks discolored and quite a big like orange peel. It had been checked with MRI and biopsy and it's basically a lot of scar tissue and capsular contracture around my implant; it was also over stretched during fills. I know you just had lumpectomy. I developed a lot of scar tissue after radiation. Hoping yours is just a lot of weird scar tissue too. Recurrences suck; I know that. Hoping this is benign

That's what I initially thought when it developed several weeks ago, and still hoping it's just scar tissue from rads and/or surgery. Will find out this morning what my onc thinks. Fingers crossed. 🤞
