Taxol and Carboplatin

Hello All,

My mom had been diagnosed with a recurrent MBC with small lesions and 1st and 4th rib,As per our onc. suggestion we had finished 28 days to 3DRT radiation to chestwall, armpits and neck.Now we are going to have Taxol+carboplatin chemo for 6 doses. she is ER+,PR+, and HER- cann any one how efficient is Taxol+carboplatin combo and what side effects we should expect?

    I'm by no means an expert on this, but I just started weekly Taxol, with Carboplatin added in every 3 weeks. My first infusion with the Carboplatin was a little rough- I didn't feel terrible, but had non-stop vomiting for about 4 hours after my infusion. After that I was fine, other than a little fatigue. Last week I recieved just Taxol only and I feel great. I think I had a rough time with the Carboplatin because my doctor didn't add enough anti-nausea pre-meds, so we are trying that next time. She is also going to reduce my dose a little because my blood counts dropped a lot (which isn't uncommon for Carbo). I don’t know what chemo your mom has recieved in the past, but I find this much easier than the A/C I started with.
