I'm starting soon, too. Met with the RO yesterday and the MO today. Both said I'm healing quickly and nicely. As soon as the insurance authorization comes through, I'll go for the simulation. 33 treatments, then Arimidex. Enjoy your trips, Oscarmom! My surgeon expedited my lumpectomy so I could fly to Colorado for my grandson's 1st birthday party - I sure appreciated that!

Hi, Not sure if this is the right forum to post this. If not, I'm sorry to misfire and ask for advice about best place to ask! I had lumpectomy and will have a bilateral reduction surgery on 5/19, to minimize potential complications of radiation for my very large, pendulous breasts, especially since my tumor was in the left breast. I should be able to begin radiation c. a month after reduction. I met with RO long ago - before lumpectomy - for an orientation but just realized this question. Does anyone know what happens with timing?? Once you're on a 5 day/week, 30 session whole breast radiation, what happens if you have something pre-planned to be out of town? Of course, my medical treatment comes first! Long before tumor was detected, my husband and I had plans to go to a conference in late July in a location on the other side of the country, where we happen to have relatives we rarely can see. (If I am able to begin radiation third week of June, this would be c. middle of treatment.) I had heard that if you need to be away for a weekend, you might be able to have a radiation treatment Fri AM and then return for next treatment Mon end of day but that would be the longest gap. Seems like some might start radiation a week or so later after lumpectomy or after chemo to be able to attend a milestone event. In my case, if we delayed until after the conference, the radiation would begin 4 months after lumpectomy. I realize I must check with the RO, but in meantime, I'm trying to get a sense of what is typically done. Any ideas how to learn how people approach timing for this?

blooming - I can't really answer your question other than to say that I will be off for 3 days next weekend as Monday is a stat holiday here. The clinic is closed!

Best of luck to all you ladies. Finished radiation in February. It was so much easier than I thought it would be. Keep moisturizing! Also taking Anastrazole with no side effects so far. Hope you all have an easy time with Rads!! :)

Kitty, you're an inspiration. I may just keep rereading your post (especially since I've chosen to steer clear of negativity!).
