Hello! I'm knew here but have been lurking since my mom was dx with triple negative grade 3 and DCIS. She's since had a double mastectomy and doing chemo.

I had a lump that my dr sent me for imaging but wouldn't check herself. After my moms dx I saw her breast surgeon who sent me for more imagining ending up with CNB. The results were intraductal papilloma with atypical cells and possible micropapillary features. It also said the micropapillary features were at the end of the biopsy and suggested the biopsy may not have gotten all of the way to a micropapillary lesion. The radiologist said she thought she got the whole thing at biopsy.

Yesterday I had an excisional biopsy and the surgeon told my husband that she saw a papilloma but it was further back than imaging indicated. My friend also said it was outside of the duct. I'm wondering, since the radiologist thought they removed the whole papilloma and this was in an unexpected location...was there probably more than one? All of this makes me feel like I'm not going to be getting great results this week. My dad is a physician and I feel like he is sugarcoating everything so I don't worry, but not knowing what to expect is the worst

So if there's a suspicion of something lurking there that didn't show on mammogram, has an MR been considered? You don't say how old you are but in younger people mammos can be sometimes difficult to interpret due to high breast density. Was this mentioned in your mammo report?

I actually had a mammogram like 6 months ago when I first found this spot. They couldn't see anything but when they redid the ultrasound said it was solid so they said it needs to be biopsied. Then the biopsy had atypical cells so they did the excision. So if it's in there I would assume it will come back on pathology. I just thought it was odd for it to be different than what she expected
