Dinner was leftover pork loin on one piece of Pumpernickel (cut in half) served with 3/4 cup of coleslaw. The slaw was made mostly with oil & tarragon vinegar & garlic salt, with just a touch of Hidden Valley Cole Slaw dressing to bind. Proceeded by a very strong gin & tonic (poured heavy by mistake) and served with a one glass of Kirtland Malbec.

Still "Keto-ing" along...supper tonight was a chicken thigh, mashed cauliflower and broccoli salad. It is so easy to eat whatever fits my plan...DH is working in VA- was home last weekend Sat-Mon. While I miss him terribly- we weathered being apart when he was deployed to Afghanistan for 10 months 2012-2013. So, while we can do it- will be glad when he finishes this job....HOWEVER, it is so helpful that I have time to adjust to this way of eating all on my own.

Winemaker dinner tonight, "Flavors of France." Aperitif and with pate de campagne (with pistachios & dried cherries), Domaine Schlumberger Pinot Blanc (Alsace); with a seared tuna Lyonnaise salad (frisee, lardons, matchstick potatoes, poached egg), Domaine Schlumberger Riesling (Alsace, bone-dry); with roast chicken breast & leg confit on panzanella waffle, Regnard Cotes de Beaune (Burgundy, Pinot Noir); with ribeye filet, Brussels sprouts and crouton, Carpe Diem Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley—very soft & approachable); and with bananas Foster profiterole & salted caramel gelato, Scharffenberger Brut (Anderson Valley, Mendocino County). Of course, plenty of leftovers for Gordy. (Bob had pasta & zuppa di pesce at our old Italian joint).
Gotta get back on the low-carb (if not true keto) wagon!

Dinner out tonight with former neighbors. We're meeting them for a pre-dinner drink in the bar. There will be high calorie specials on the menu like au gratin dishes.
Susan, I asked for the Greek potatoes recipe. Someone in our group recommended a recipe some months (or years!) ago but it called for a large amount of olive oil and I didn't try it.

So either nobody is cooking? Or nobody is eating?
I had very weird meals. I usually skip breakfast, but since I missed diner last night I had a bowl of oatmeal w/heavy cream early very this morning. I knew I was going to a friends for bloody marys at 4pm, so I had a can of Beenie Weenies around 3pm. My friend's husband makes a WICKED bloody mary & I needed some ballast. Last but not least, for supper I had a can of smoked oysters with triscuits and the remainder of my Malbec wine.
Tomorrow is one of the plays on my season ticket subscription. We usually go eat afterwards but considering it's Mother's Day, we may not get seated anywhere.
Happy Mother's day to anyone who is a Mother or who had a Mother. Well - that's about all of us.

Path of least resistance after setting ot & watering my new tomato & herb plants and a long workout (training + cardio): the hot bar at Whole Foods. Chicken thigh teriyaki, collard greens and mac & cheese. Gordy's taking me to Spiaggia for an early dinner tomorrow (Bob's working late).

Friday hubby got home late from work, so he picked up KFC for dinner. Enough leftover for tonight for dinner! No cooking for me on Mother's Day!!!!!!!

Two of Sharon's recipes for this week...baked ziti and Chicken and Dumplings.
Yesterday was baseball game food. Each of the three of us (DD, Sharon and I) ordered the same thing...regular hot dog (with a fancy name), french fries (in an 8 ounce drink cup) and a large (12 ounce) soft drink...each of the three meals was $21.
I guess we were paying for the ambiance.

Most amazing play - "Luna Gale" - about who gets the baby of meth addicted teens. Way too many judgements and every scene you had to stop & think again.
We were able to sneak into one of our favorite Asian restaurants at 5pm just before the Mother's Day rush. An hour later there were lines out the door. I had the Special Lo Mein - combo shrimp, pork & chicken. My friend had a diet plate - steamed shrimp w/vegetables.
Dessert was 4 Godiva dark chocolate ganache pieces from my secret stash.

Heres Felicia after helping me pick Dandelions for the Dandelion Jelly. 2017 batch cam out a wee bit cloudy, i think because I used pectin powder instead of the liquid. But it still tastes great.

Pasta, Italian sausage and asparagus dish tonight, a variation of a WW recipe that calls for orecchiette, Italian sausage and broccolini. The Italian sausage is homemade with ground turkey. The pasta is campanelle. The asparagus is lightly cooked in chicken broth.
I will cook the pasta in chicken broth and not drain it. I will add the other ingredients plus grated Romano and lemon juice and zested lemon peel. The starch from the pasta and the cheese form a creamy sauce. I cooked this once before with broccoli as the veggie. It was worth a repeat.
We will have a salad with "artisan" lettuce medley, cucumber and grape tomatoes.
A whole chicken has been thawing today. I guess I will roast it tomorrow. It needed to be used.

Dinner tonight is small sirloin steaks, mashed red potatoes, and Brussels with some bacon and onion glazed with balsamic.

Happy - the best part is the secret stash is on a top shelf and I often forget about it for weeks at a time.
Dinner was LOTS of radishes, carrots & celery w/ranch dip while I read the paper. Then leftover Chinese lo mein.

Mothers’ Day dinner at Cafe Spiaggia yesterday—Gordy had a tuna crudo and I a salumi plate (coppa, bresaola, and some fior di latte cheese) for appetizers; we shared black truffle cacio e pepe spaghetti, a grilled pork porterhouse with broccoli rabe and “watermelon radish” slices, and gelato (one scoop each of dark chocolate sea salt, coconut, and blackberry-ginger sorbet). Took home leftovers of everything but the crudo (surprisingly small portion) and of course the gelato & sorbet.
Tonight after my workout I pan-seared salmon, which I topped with mango salsa from Whole Foods and accompanied with sauteed snap peas with sesame seeds. Dessert is a fruit cup of pineapple, mango, cherries & mixed berries. (Being a good girl today—had egg, cheese and a little of the leftover salumi for breakfast; a mixed green salad with avocado, tomato & sardines plus an almond-flour “tortilla” for lunch. No junk).

The thawed whole chicken was huge. I cut it into pieces and the breast made 6 pieces. The bony pieces are roasting in the small oven. They will be boiled for stock.
The meaty pieces will feature in tonight's dinner in a lemon and olive skillet dish. A side will be yellow squash

Hello ladies and (poor broke) Eric- long time no "see" as I have been sicker than I have ever been on and off for the last two weeks. Ugh. Anyway, feeling on the upswing so making stuffed peppers tonight. This is another time when I had my camera at the ready but they look nearly identical except 3 red and 1 orange and 2 green cause that is what I had. Enjoy your day!

Dinner tonight is not decided upon. DD is driving to the east coast of FL and back today, she set another world record (she will be on the TV show Finchasers in July setting 6 world records for rainbow trout and spotted bass in NC and GA - what?) for a bass caught a couple of weeks ago and is delivering the paperwork and weighing device personally to the IGFA over in Dania Beach, FL. It is about 3.5 hours each direction so she won't be home for dinner. DH will likely go to the gym since he skipped last night. I need to grocery shop as we have guests coming tomorrow night for a one week stay and I have a birthday luncheon to attend tomorrow at noon (need to bring a salad). I really want to put the shopping off until tomorrow morning because I am cleaning today, and looking decidedly unglam! I would need a bit of an overhaul if I go to the store, lol! So, I must peruse what is available and the freezer is looking like Mother Hubbard's cupboard! I am leaning toward a short pasta with turkey and spinach meatballs, jarred marinara, and some shaved parm, and calling it good.

April, so sorry to hear you've been sick—hope you're getting better. Hang in there. Both here and in the DC area, people are reporting that grass & tree pollens are so high this season that their colds seem to last longer, because the allergies are making everything worse and creating more gunk for the viruses & secondary bacteria to infect.
I remember my grandma used to make stuffed peppers with ground beef, onions & rice. But when I read the words “stuffed peppers,” I remember back to when I was on the original (Jean Nidetch-era) incarnation of Weight Watchers the summer before senior year of college. (Looking back, I shake my head in wonder—I was 134 lbs. and thought I needed to get down to 115. Geez. And I was an inch and a half taller then). One of my staples was stuffed peppers, made with an entire 6-oz. can of water-packed tuna, tomato juice, salt, pepper and dried veggie flakes. And I actually ate them. Back then, a dinner portion of protein (poultry, beef, lamb or fish—no pork) was 6 oz (after cooking).
Really nice and warm today—87 even here by the lake, but the wind made it feel comfortable. Was going to grill, but had a little pork and rapini left over from Sunday. Walked to Whole Foods for various citrus fruits (not to mention returning a lucite dishwashing brush that began disintegrating after just a couple of uses) and intended to grill a small grass-fed hanger steak, but they had roast chicken thighs at the hot bar along with grilled veggies at the salad bar—so refrigerated the steak (as well as a couple of small wild sockeye fillets to defrost) and nuked the leftovers to add to the chicken & veg. Last night made a fruit salad—tonight they had sliced papaya, so may have that with mango and various berries for a late dessert. (Also had sliced jackfruit, but I remember from last year there was so much waste breaking down the slices to get to the edible bits, so I passed on it).

Hubby and I were at a toast and roast for a friend last night. Dinner was salad, rolls, penne pasta with a meat sauce, chicken dish, a beef dish, mashed potatoes and carrots. Dessert was ice creams with hot fudge.
Tonight is the last of the chicken from KFC and a side dish. Hubby doesn't want me slaving over the stove in the 90 degree heat we are supposed to have today and tomorrow.

Tonight DH and I will have dinner at Pontchartrain Poboys and have oysters one last time before leaving the land of fresh shell fish. I will probably have an oyster Poboy.
I was up at least four times last night with my body flushing out all the fluid it was holding after I ate baked ham on Sunday.

Hello All
I have literally a house full of people this week. My sister, her kids (25, 27) their husbands, 2 dogs and a hamster. My sister is a chef in her second career now so we are eating like kings. We all sit at my island and just watch her work. She was a radiologist, decided to retire early at 50 and went to culinary school. .
Last night was a wonderful chicken dish, with all types of veggies and a balsamic sauce with wine. Each night is a surprise. I'm happy to let her display her talents. It is in the upper 80's, soon to be 90 here.
