1936Mary: It all depends on how big your tumour was and if your node was +. Sounds like you are Er+ but cannot take any of the anti estrogen meds. Not necessarily bad. My girlfriend has a 2.5 cm ER+ tumour and only has surgery...she is 10 years out and still ok....but she wasn't Her2_ which means your tumour is more aggressive.... Radiation is definitely an option to consider and isn't hard on you. If small, you may get along with just surgery and radiation (plus good diet and some exercise)...and do well. Small as in 1 cm or less. Tamoxifen is bone friendly so don't know why they don't want you to have it unless your are prone to strokes. High blood pressure can be controlled...and having a family history of heart disease doesn't mean you have heart disease...this should be checked out. Herceptin can be a problem regarding the heart but there are now short courses of it that are just as successful as the long course. In any event, you should be monitored. No one can really say what your prognosis may be as everyone is different but it is stage 1 and that is a plus and maybe ask about that tamoxifen again, if your are Er+. That alone would be a good path.

1936Mary, can you take herceptin without chemo? Maybe you can try it to see how well you tolerate it.

kathy, bless your heart. Yes, i was a stage 1, neg nodes and low onc score and yes I worry sometimes. Looking at the statistics they are very much in our favor! I met a 23 year breast cancer survivor and she attributed it to her faith in God and her positive attitude. She told herself she was healed! I want to be like her. Yes, I have emotional setbacks when I read stuff but I try hard to get back to positive thinking.tell yourelf you are cured! I am a year out from surgery and 9 months out from radiation. I find the anxiety getting better with time and I hope you will too.
