I was scheduled for a stereotactic biopsy today but table problems pushed it back to Thursday. Core needle biopsy already confirmed BC. 1cm, stage 1, grade 1 and estrogen + is all I know. I have a meeting with BS Friday tentatively, depending on how fast he can get next biopsy results. When on phone with the nurse, she mentioned sentinel node biopsy? Both radiologist and BS said not in lymph nodes - is this a standard step

They usually do a sentinel node biopsy here in Europe as standard so I don´t think it is necessarily significant

Once you know it's IDC, then yes, it is a standard step. There isn't really any way of being certain that no cells are in the lymph nodes without doing an SNLB. They can tell if lymph nodes are swollen and potentially involved using imaging, but confirmation that they are NOT involved needs to be done by a pathologist. Now, the fact that you're stage 1 and grade 1 certainly point to no lymph involvement, but your team is just following good protocol to insure nothing is missed.
