Waiting for final biopsy following lumpectomy & SNB

Dx with invasive ductal carcinoma with possible spread to axilla. I had lumpectomy and SNB April 7th. I have an appointment with surgeon oncologist April 26th for final pathology & treatment plan.

I've read all the imaging results and medical notes. I'm exhausted wondering whether my nodes are affected. Despite trying I can't seem to stop obsessing about the outcome.

The MRI said nodes looked good. The surgeon removed 6 nodes. He said they look good however they were firm and initial ultra sound showed concern in a node.

Anyone else have this dilemma and what was the outcome?

I feel you! I had my lumpectomy and snb on last Friday, the 21st. My follow up with the surgeon is on this Thursday, when I'll get the final path report. She only took 2 nodes, but it only takes one being infected to choose which path is to be followed.

I hope yours turned out to be of no concern after all! <3

thanks for the comments. the good news is my surgical pathology concluded margins and nodes are clear. the tumour was larger than anticipated and quite deep and grade 3. still waiting for pathology feedback on receptors. the results are in and waiting to hear outcome. i have appointments set up with Medical & Radiation Oncologists. it feels like it's taking forever to get my complete diagnosis.

Clear nodes is great, solitude! Sorry everything is taking so long, but glad you're getting bits of good news while you wait.

With myself, the Oncologist was the one who either did or did not recommend chemo therapy. The radiologist the one that set up the radiation schedule. The oncologist the one who 'took over' ongoing check ups etc ... following radiation treatment. Myself, continued to enjoy life once the surgery was over... but there will always be lapses .. generally nothing happens until a month after surgery to give surgical site time to heal. I took 2 personal extended stays with family and friends prior to my radiation treatments, for ex. As to the importance of enjoying each day ... that goal remained firm in my mind. Good Luck and God Bless.
