Dancing with the Stars

I agreed with Carrie Anne's assessment about Heather's routine last night. I was expecting more. However, she also is not wth Max but has a professional who is new. Sometimes a big personality like Max will soften the edges of a personality like Heather and she would come across as more likeable. When the heck is Max gonna dance again?
-
Erin's dress, yuck; didn't care for her hair, either.
Simone, I could see her rythym was a bit off, but she looked gorgeous.
Bonner's dance not so great. Sharna, in an icy blue negligee, was smokin hot.
Nancy Kerrigan. You'd think she'd be less emotional and more confident. Olympic medalist, long legs that go on forever. I think she should and could have had a lot more attitude with the paso and could have killed it. Needs a major shot of confidence.
Nick, meh. Peta's hand flung to her bosom to make sure she didn't pop out as she was bouncing around.
Now Normani, that is confidence and sexiness. Whoa.
I really like the baseball guy, so decent and down to earth. Not sure why they did the lift if they couldn't perfect it and it wasn't a necessary move. I love his platonic relationship with Lindsey.
Rashad, nice dance. Emma's dress was va va voom.
Heather's dance was okay, nothing major. Judges loved it. Messy hair again. It's like her security blanket.
Team dance: the guys, fun. Some sensual crotch grabbing by Rashad.
Girls: I agree with Carrie Anne and Len that the dance didn't come together.
At this point, I hate to see anyone eliminated! About this time in the competition I start to vote.
-
Well, that was a surprise! I won't give away the outcome as some are still watching, but here are my general observations:
* Nick & David-fun dances, but I think they are both a little too heavy on their feet
*Nancy-it was a very different dance for her. It was good but the judges always like her better than I do
*Simone & Bonner- I very much liked both routines
* Heather- lovely dance, lovely leg work, and it was the first time that she really shined & that I really liked her
* Normandi & Rashad-I thought they were both excellent....gosh, he is gorgeous!
I liked both the Boys & Girls Band dances......I will agree with the judges that the guys looked like they were having more fun.
-
I really liked Normandi and Rashad, and I'm going to revise my thinking from Simone to Normandi to take it. Poor Nancy just goes to show you what she must have gone through to be so perfect as an ice skater and the look on her face, she was sure she was going home. Loved the guys dance, they really seemed to be having a great time together, everybody gelled - the girls really didn't seem to fall into place as a team.
-
Have to say, did not see that elimination coming!
-
I was somewhat surprised by this week's eliminations too.
I liked all the dances, thought they told their stories well. I thought the guest judge's comments on Simone needing to enjoy the moment were very true. Technically she is great, but I see some others with lots of talent and more passion. I loved all the dance-off music. Very fun!
-
It was a fun show. I was surprised by the elimination (one of them) too.
I am always drawn to the gymnasts, but I do understand the emotion comments. Laurie zhernandez was wonderful. I do love Simone too, though.
-
Missed the whole thing! We had a 12 hour city wide power outage from about 5 last night to 5 this morning due to some trouble with adjoining electrical substations. Will have to catch the dances on YouTube today when I have time.
-
Trio Dances! My favorite!
Love Rashad's and the concept of good and evil.
The regular dances were okay, nothing stood out. I dont think Sharna and Bonner connect (she often comes across as cold to me) and also Simone could display more emotion, I agree with the judges on that.
Getting ready to watch the rest....
-
oh my gosh!!!! Loved this trio dance by Normani!!!!! So cute, clever, energetic!!!
-
Simone's trio was surprisingly average. Suddenly she doesnt seem likemthe front runner. I didn't really like that the judges selected a partner for her and Sasha that was so much taller than Simone. Simone was overshadowed by her. I fault the judges for that, they should have taken that into consideration.
-
I liked Dave's dance, the drama of it, even if he is kind of stiff in his movements.
So.....will see who goes tonight.......
-
I think the judges are so hard on Simone. Seems like they criticize her when she smiles and when she doesn't smile. Think she's getting frustrated. Norman I is excellent. So is Rashad.
Fun night.
-
Very much agreed with the results tonight.
Solo dances: I liked Normandi and Dave's the best, mainly because both told stories they felt deeply about. which showed in their dancing.
Trio: l loved Rashad and Normadni's dances!
-
Yes, appropriate elimination. Agree about the judges being so hard on Simone. I think she is competing to get the mirror ball and first place with a gymnast approach, and they want her to have more of a personal journey. I could see Normani taking it all. I need to go vote....
I cracked up when Tom said, "Looks like Whitney's been eating the purple popsicles again!"
Did you see the commercial for Swiffer with the janitor mopping the dance floor on the DWTS set? I loved it!
-
It was a fun night. I think that Simone hasn't been able to make the mental jump from being a gymnast dancing to a dancer who is also a gymnast.
-
I loved Rashad's trio dance. But tho his solo dance to Shake Your Tailfeathers was great fun to watch, even I could see that the kicks and flicks of the feet and extension of arms were not exceptional, and I really didn't think he deserved tens. I just think the judges were making sure he gets to the finals, and hey, I want that, too. I also felt that Emma was upstaging Rashad during that dance and seemed like she was even holding back because she wanted to really cut loose, yet was unable to because his level is still somewhat below hers. We've seen too many dances that super wow us, and have been spoiled by Dereck's holding the bar so high and others competing with that which ups their game and we get some spectacular routines.
-
Tonight is the best I've seen Erin look. Her hair soft and casual, the simple glitter silver dress...loved it.
Normani and Val, okay.
David and Lindsay, I always love their feel good routines
-
Simone and Sasha, cute
Rashad and Emma.....steamy!
-
Erin is actually talking nicely as well. So far, so good!
-
Second dance....whoa, Normani and Val, amazing! Loved the piano, bit at the end, too. Such creative touches everyewhere in this show
-
A terrific dance. She definitively deserved her scores. I loved gramma!
-
Yes, I love these tributes to their biggest fans.
Simine looks awesome in that golden sashed costume.
-
Whoa! Did not see that coming!!! At all!!
-
Me either. I suppose we can't discuss until the West Coast has a chance to watch.....
-
Well.......this is why they need to change the voting structure. This is the second time this season that a person has had a breakthrough night, gotten all 10s, and is gone.
Although I think Dave is a very lovely person, IMO he is not close to the other 3 in last night's competition and should not have been scored as highly as Normandi (for an example) in the first round. I think he was over-scored all season.
Simone, I think she was under-scored all season. I really thought that she had finally let loose and added the show-biz/fun/passion factor to her incredible dancing ability, so I am very sad that she is gone.
Normandi, beautiful lines & really brings a lot of personality to her dances. Also, Max is a great coach/partner.
Rashad, I really like him. Gorgeous, sweet, strong, has the personality component to his dances as well.
So..... I'm bummed about Simone & hope they rethink how/when to count the votes. I hope Normandi and Rashad come in #1 and #2, in either order.
-
was sad to see Simone go for sure!! I always love the gymnasts. I watched Simone in the Olympics and she is an amazing athlete and felt her performance value was good all season. I wonder if Carrie Ann felt a little guilty for her comments last week.
Yes, David is a super nice guy and I have a soft spot for catchers anyway. (Live our Salvy), but definitely Radhad or Normandi should win IMO.
Last night was certainly a shocker. I didn't see any post show interviews, but I'm sure Simone handled them well.
-
Oh, I agree 100% that Dave was scored high and Simone low all season. I could sense how Simone often danced for the technical qualities but often didn't connect on a personal level somehow. I very much feel like Carrie Ann should feel guilty for her endlessly harping on the personality side. It is, sadly, an instance where the easy going older white guy gets the breaks and the young black chick gets harshly critiqued and then questioned about why she isn't smiling. It sucks. It really does.
At the beginning of the season, I would have said we would see Heather Morris and Simone Biles in the finals. As I said before, the level of dancing this season is below what we've seen in previous ones. I do hope Normani wins, but the finals still lack that excitement I've felt going in to other finals. Normani has the one move that she puts in just about every dance, kick the leg straight up in the air to the left and swirl it over the the right and bring the foot down to the floor. You know, there could be more variety there.
It is nice to see both Lindsay and Emma in the finals, some professional fresh faces rather than the usual "suspects". And I am thinking that we will still get a pretty good show.
-
Nice, quick show tonight. I was a little disappointed in Normani's freestyle, too bland. My favorite was Dave's! It was great!
Sure seems like the judges are all in Rahsad's corner.
-
Very fun show. It would be nice for either Whitney or Emma to win as neither ever have before. David is very sweet, Normandi has lovely lines, but I am voting for Rashad as I think he puts both the sweetness and lovely lines together.
